Some folks wouldn't know a great receiver if it bit them in the butt. Hoffman still over 1200 yards receiving and 11 TDs despite playing with a left handed fullback at quarterback. Unbelievable.

Proof of BYU fan's silly expectations. Most of those stats came against New Mexico St and Idaho. Therefore he will dominate EVERYONE because he didn't produce against real teams, but man, those lower level WAC teams, HE TOTALLY OWNED THEM!

AWESOME!

See what I mean?

What did Hoffman do in big games? And no, Idaho and New Mexico State aren't big games. Against BCS teams, he had 2 TD's. Against Utah, Washington St, Notre Dame, Boise, Utah State, Oregon St, Georgia Tech he had 2 TD's. Oh YES!!!! Talk about BIG TIME performances there. Watch out NFL. Against teams that MAY have ONE NFL DB, he is going to average a whopping 0.29 TD's a game!

Ha ha. Nice one. Once every four games, he might do something good. Clearly, he is the best WR in the state. Clearly.

You did absolutely nothing to dispute what he did despite playing with a left handed fullback at QB. Just for kicks and giggles, look up Riley Nelson's stats against Utah, Boise St. and Notre Dame. Certainly you're not pinning his poor stats on Cody Hoffman, right?

btw, he had over 100 receiving yards and 1 TD against Utah. Soooooooooo I thought he did nothing about BCS competition?

Cody Hoffman was about 1 of maybe 3 bright spots from BYU last season. There weren't many. But Cody Hoffman was one reason why BYU fans should be excited for this year.

To see the talent gap between Utah and BYU, watch last year's game. Utah had a DII QB, no OL, no LB'ers, and their best offensive player (White) didn't even play.

Nelson fumbled the ball at least 4 times, and was able to recover all but one of those. If those balls bounce any different, we have another 54-10 beat down...and that was against what might have been the worst Utah team since McBride was there. And BYU couldn't beat a depleted team. Every position for Utah should be better, with DL being the only exception, and there are three NFL potential guys starting.

I honestly believe this will be the last game Utah plays against BYU with Whitt as their coach, and I don't think it will be pretty for BYU. The only time BYU has beaten Utah recently has been with an upperclassmen NFL talent QB...and Utah had underclassmen, non-NFL QB's. BYU doesn't have that QB this year. Look at the last three (since Utah announced their PAC-12 membership) games:

17-16 - The savior Heaps vs Wynn with a blown out shoulder. Utah scores 17 in the fourth to win it.
54-10 - Not even close. BYU folded like a mid-major team
24-21 - Utah with no QB, no OL, no RB is up big in the fourth. BYU lucks out with 4 fumbles that they recovered and the worst officiating ever and still can't win. That game could have easily been another 54-10 game.

This year:

Utah has improved at every position.

BYU's QB is brand new, new OL, new OC, their starting DE is 215 lb's, and they lost a lot off their defensive front seven.

I don't get the BYU love at all. Not at all. But then again, I said that before 2011 and I was mocked (there is no way Wynn is better than Heaps, Apo is awesome, best WR in the state, everyone can see that, Juice is awesome as a RB, best BYU freshman RB ever!, we have all these defensive transfers from USC, so much better than Star, blah, blah, blah, BCS bowl, blah, blah, Heisman, blah. I'll get mocked for this, Utah will win, the series will end, BYU will fade as they struggle agains their new semi-tough schedule, and life will go on....and BYU fan will forever whine about Utah dropping them and call Utah little brother while doing so.

Good times.

Hill is definiteley a good weapon, but he doesn't seem like an every down QB. Guess we will see.

Who is the qb that is coming to byu that people have been hyping? I got him confused with hill.

Probably tanner mangum is who you are thinking of.
He was the jake heaps of the elite 11 quarterback camp thingy last year. (After the heaps debacle, not sure if this a good thing lol)

Let's look at Hoffman, shall we:

1st Q:

5 yard catch, fumble.
1 yard catch
12 yard catch

Dominating 1st Q

2nd Q:
6 yard catch
Incomplete pass
Incomplete pass
10 yard pass for TD. Yay!

First half stats:
7 passes, 5 catches, 1 TD, 1 fumble. Eh, half.

3rd Q:
Incomplete pass
16 yard catch

So, at this time, the score is 24-7 Utah. Hoffman has 9 passes, 7 catches, 1 TD, 1 Fumble, 39 yards. Dominating.

4th Q:

8 yard catch
47 yard catch

So, when BYU needed him, he fumbled the ball away. When the game was on the verge of a blowout, he caught a 47 yard pass, no TD (even though he only had to beat one player smaller than he is), and still lost the game.

Yeah, that screams big time. NFL scouts are drooling over this kid. Just imagine, if you are down big, he might get a big catch, but can't convert it into a TD. Clearly the best WR in the state. Clearly.
