What's new

Givony agrees

He's Dennis Rodman or Ben Wallace, career averages of 7pts and 13rbds and 6 and 10 respectively. Michael Jordan knows the value of a Rodman on your team. Oddly he traded away his two Pippens (Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson), and there is no 2nd MJ coming ever.

Biyombo is a shorter Ibaka... Ibaka is okay, but not worth Kanter.

do you know how good ibaka is? you didnt watch how he destroyed us with mid-range jumpers this year?

ibaka will be an All-star, and not just defensively.

biyombo, if he gets playing time (20 min a game), will get about 1.5 blocks/ 5-6 rebounds/ 4-5ppg, and watch him struggle with foul troubles. but of course i'm not saying he's not going to be good, but not his first year.

Dude will drop down the memory hole just like Saer Sene in 3 years. When crunch time comes and he needs to defend the basket, the other team will just foul him every time he touches the ball. That's assuming they even find a way to get him on the floor without completely destroying their offensive flow.

I'll never understand the infatuation people have with "players" like Biyombo. A defensive specialist has to have at least one discernable offensive skill. Biyombo has none.
Exactly, yet people fall in love with this crap every year.

"I can block shots, I can rebound, I play intense, I play hard," Biyombo said this week at a Bobcats pre-draft workout.

He knows he's not a scorer, but with coaching he can only improve that part of his game

I know bobcats fans are really excited about this kid being a "instant huge defensive presence"

Biyombo has no offense, NO OFFENSE at all. It will be very big achievement for him if he will average more than 6-7 ppg in his first yr, being optimistic, he can 6-7 p per 48 min.

Kanter's floor: 14/9/1
Kanter's ceiling: 22/12/2

Biyombo's floor: 6/4/2
Biyombo's ceiling: 12/12/4

I put Biyombo's floor more in the range of 1/4/2. Feskenoesque numbers to go with a Fesenkoesque fanboy cult, no offense Kicky.

Regarding 11 points this season...guess how many rookies averaged in double figures this year. Four, and they played 24-38 minutes per game.

8 rebounds per game? Two rookies did that (in 29-38 minutes per game).

Maybe he comes close on the blocks because it's his signature skill, but there's no way he plays enough minutes to hit 11 and 8.

I don't get why kanter gets the free pass because he dominated teenagers the way Kosta Koufos dominated teenagers.

Biyombo has played grown *** men and been effective as a defensive force. There is no reason he can't be that at the next level.

yes he is raw offensively, but isn't that why you have coaches? if he could develop a hook shot he could be pretty effective with his length.

That's a fair point, but I put more faith in Kanter because he appears to have a more rounded game. We can watch all the youtube videos that are out there, but the truth is that very few to none of us have seen either player play. What we have seen makes me feel better about Kanter than Biyombo.

Gotta love retarded jazz fans that feel that a guy who will average:

2 points, 2 blocks, and 6 fouls in 20 minutes is worth a guy that will average 20 points, 10 rebounds, and will play alongside Favors (who can make up for a lot of defense deficiencies).

Biyombo doesn't give us anything that Favors can't give us right now.

Taking the BPA at #3 wasn't a bad move. It gives us more options. Potentially, the Jazz could have the best frontcourt in the NBA(yes, even more athletic, and stronger, and deeper than the Grizz).
