GMOs

Siro registered a dislike for my post about GMOs. Well, let's hear what he or anyone on the board has to say about it. I know a fair bit and I will be happy to include my two cents. I feel it's an important issue because more and more of the food we eat is or has some GMO in its make-up, and there are serious questions not only about the products but of the way they are cultivated and its effect on our ecology. Everyone should be aware of this issue.

And if you want to be intellectually honest, they're GE crops.

Every single crop in existence is genetically modified, only some are genetically engineered.

Those plants you're referring to are not genetically engineered like many of the food products we are now eating that are engineered to resist heavy doses of Roundup and the glyphosate that is the main ingredient. There's a lot of controversy about unnatural genetic engineering which is what Genetically Modified Organisms (that's what they typically are called, but technically, evolution is the process of genetic modification as you say) are and how our bodies deal with it -- we haven't been eating them that long, and a lot of scientists are worried about it. But for sure the heavy use of glyphosate is not good for us or the environment. For one, it destroys everything but the GE crop and thus all the micro-organisms that make up the top soil and contribute to the natural ecology thus seriously eroding our top soil. It's unnatural. There's a documentary series about it that's coming up shortly. I can post a link for those who are interested.

The anti-GMO stuff is straight BS.

GMOs are BETTER for the environment than non-GMO produce. Non-GMO is a stupid marketing gimmick, and is for the same anti-science crowd that are anti-vaxers.

I can see that you're highly uneducated on this subject.

Shocker.

You deserved the dislike. Without GMOS people would starve. will we make some GMOS that have negative consequences possibly even very serious ones? Yes we will but.... we will discontinue our failures and expand and enhance our successes. Let's call it intelligent selection.
