Go GET Hornacek

Stifle Tower

Punch Bowl Re-Filler
It's official. Dead man walking no more. Hornacek finally ran out of appeals and the governor didn't call on the phone to stay his execution. So Jeff has mercifully been put out of his misery. Actually don't blame him, He coached his *** off the first year and then the idiot GM decided to screw up a great PG duo and then sign the Morris brothers with the promise they'd play together only to turn around and make a trade after the ink was barely dry (no, I didn't make that up, GVC. The promise was actually made according to Markief). And he was/is very PISSED!

Bring Hornacek back to Utah as a shooting consultant. Probably won't happen, though. He likely gets an immediate chance to be a HC somewhere else next season.

Edit: yes. I did exaggerate a bit, The ink was completely dry when they traded Marcus,

Hornacek fired

The Phoenix Suns fired coach Jeff Hornacek, league sources tell The Vertical.

If I recall correctly, Hayward and Wes Matthews credit Hornacek for improving their shooting. Wonder if he or the Jazz would be interested in him coming back in some sort of associate head coach position like D'Antoni in Philadelphia. He looked like such a promising head coach just a couple years ago when the Suns won 48 games out of nowhere. Maybe Minnesota or Brooklyn will offer him a head coaching gig.

edit: Stifle Tower just beat me to it

No interest. Don't want anyone from the Sloan/Corbin era. That time has passed. And quite frankly, when he was here, I'm not sure he helped our shooters in some noticeable way.

I'd happily bring him back. He's known to the players and has a history with the team. I doubt that he's going to get another head coaching offer for awhile until he rehabs his image, so it wouldn't hurt to add some help for the team's shooting.

Unless the team intends to make a run at Chip Engelland, I think they should probably consider bringing Jeff back for a short stay.

I'd take him as a shooting coach, but betting he catches on an assistant on some other team after this season.

Love to have him as an assistant, not getting my hope up since he's gonna be a HC somewhere else if he wants to.

I don't think he'd make a difference one way or another.

Team is biggest shock in the NBA and Horny is almost HCOY. Then team makes bad moves and has big injuries, goes on a terrible run but Devin Booker becomes star in making and coach gets fired. I don't get it.

It is absolutely a terrible move on the leadership/ownership of the franchise. There are changes that need to be made there, but the coaching staff was not the problem. Its much higher than that.

Hornacek got a **** deal. Only way I see him back here is if he wanted to be a consultant until next year. He coached a group of ill fitting pieces to a good record and they had some guys with difficult personalities. The GM breaks up the Morris twins after they gave a discount to stay together and he thinks that will work out. If you trade one of those guys you need to move them both.

Do the Jazz even have an associate head coach/lead assistant coach/whatever the **** that position is called?

Obviously I don't know the answer to the above question, but if Hornacek wanted to get back to the bench this season, the Jazz should welcome him with open arms. He deserves to be a head coach, but if he just helps possibly fix some kinks in the offense and marginally improves a guy or two's shooting in the meantime, great, even if it's just for half a season. Hope he lands the job he deserves.

Everything is right you say especially the one I make black. We should take him and we can be champions but we settle for nice role player anyways

What coach or player wants to go to that cluster of a franchise. I'm glad we are not in that position.

Hello no. He is an awful coach. Apparently no one has been paying attention to what he has been doing. His rotations have been the most retarded rotations ever. The dude is clueless.

Be thankful he's not our coach.

You guys don't get it. He's a dumb coach.

Why do you think Dragic demanded a traded and criticized the offense?

Why did Markief Morris throw a towell at him?

Why did the team quit on him?

The players didn't like him. He did the most bizarre rotations I've ever seen. I've followed it pretty closely. He had to go. He is not cutout to be a head coach. He gets too angry at the players. Won't let them find any consistency. Doesn't know how to use them right. Doesn't know who his best players are. He made it a cluster **** there, and deserved the firing.
