Good point. We really should get every free agent available every time and have an all star team.I'd leave that up to Snyder with a big smile that he has to make such a hard decision with such good players.
Anyone else but me want to build a real contender?

I like that plan!
Why weren't people talking about how the jazz should go after deandre jordan and Tyson Chandler and Paul millsap or other bigs in free agency last year? Could it be because we have Gobert and favors already?Because that is exactly what I said. Come on Fish...

Imagine a rotation at the 4 and 5 of Gobert, jordan, favors, and millsap. Quin could have made that work yet I didn't hear about any plans like that for some reason
will this contender suddenly leapfrog the crowded West into perpetual 1st seeds?
I would like to add wesley matthews to the group of players (carroll, danny green) that some wanted to get last offseason who we luckily didn't add.
He is playing 33 minutes per game and averaging 12.8 ppg on 39% shooting from the field, averaging 1.8 assists, and 3 rebounds and only gets to the line less than 2 times per game.
The cake baking was the right idea. The injuries screwed the cake up otherwise the cake would be really tasty.
The only exception would be that i would have liked to go get a point guard last summer (i was always down with this despite being a "cake baker" since i have been an exum hater) but i dont remember any non cake bakers suggesting any point guards. It was pretty much just go get carroll, green, or matthews and im glad that we didn't do that.

I don't think cake bakers advocated doing nothing... I think we just didn't want to add high priced free agents that were not any better than what we already had at a position of strength.Cake baking and adding players wasn't mutually exclusive. Had we gotten Carroll, Green, Middleton, Matthews (was never too keen on that one, but it still might turn out well for Dallas) we would have had a better team and more flexibility to trade other guys... or if injuries happen like the almost always do you were covered. I never thought those guys would come here though.
I was more pissed we did nothing... NOTHING... with our cap asset when good deals were out there. I was more advocating adding a Casspi, Jerebko, Aminu type that would have taken Ingles/Johnson minutes and given us flexibility between the 3 and 4. All of those guys were gettable and Jerebko doesn't even play much so he would have likely accepted the role we had available.
We could have done something different at PG or 3rd big but I understood why we didn't because at the time Exum was healthy and Booker was good at basketball (or at least kind of good). To do nothing was a big mistake. Had we offered Casspi a 4 year deal at twice what he is making per year that would be a big asset for us (and I did advocate signing him prior to this year and am not just rewriting history based on results). A deal like that would have been... wait for it... frosting on the cake and would have allowed us to ... wait for it... have our cake and eat it too.
You could play millsap at 3 or 4.I understand why couldn't get a big... Some of these guys that are wings like Jae Crowder though... can theoretcially play three positions, so they offer some roster flexibility. You can't play Jordan and Gobert together, but could you play Crowder at 3, 4, or even the 2 some.
