I have not heard anything. From what was said right after his surgery, he should be ready within the next week or two.

I hope you remember the handwringing about how we won't be able to afford to keep our "core" that included Burke and Burks. That is the main jist of my comment. I'll see what I can dig up but this is years ago and my search capability is pretty poor.

Saying they are "core" is a long ways from saying they are max players. Besides, I think you have to say those particular players are no longer part of the core. Exum and Hood have replaced them. And yes, to keep all 5 requires some of them to leave money on the table. Otherwise, one has to be sacrificed and replaced by a much cheaper player.

Burks would be nice to have as a 6th man, but that's probably not going to happen when his contract expires. Jazz will need that money to put towards Hood and Dante. DL will just have to find another shooter in the draft. Jazz need to try to keep their best 5 and pay them up to the cap.

That leaves about $15M for 8 more players. So 2-3 key rotation players are on rookie or vet minimum contracts(or close to it). Beyond the main 8 are picks or players making the NBA minimum.
