Golden Corral adds new chocolate fountains

So Gross.

I ate there once. Terrible food. Most buffets in general is garbage food. I dont eat that crap ever.

Whats up with the chocolate fountain, do people all dip a bunch of stuff in it? Or is it hands off?

Hands off? Where's the fun in that?

Cotton Candy gunks up the machine bro. HUGE no-no.

What I've done in the past is grab another item (the rice krispie treats work great for this) and get it totally saturated in chocolate, then bring that back to your table and just dip the cotton candy in the excess chocolate on your plate. Not as good as having a fully covered cotton candy cone, but until they make a cotton candy that can hold up to the choco-fall, it's the best we can do.

Why not just grab a soup bowl or ice cream bowl and fill it up. That's what I do.

Wow. An absolute and utter joke.

Would post a pic if jazzfanz app would let me, but here at G.C. they have a sign next to the station with the Caramel fall and the white chocolate fall that reads "due to demand, please limit fountain use to 3 items per fountain."

Umm what? I didn't pay for a Buffett to be limited in what I can actually eat. This is absurd.

Ya, I can just fill up on extra bread, but I drove out here for the fountains.

Makes me not even want to stay for Dinner.

Whoever catches the most chocolate with their tongue gets 10% off their meal.

I ate their once or twice out of desparation while driving cross country - food is complete garbage. It's for yokels who wouldn't know what a good food is if you shoved it down their throats.

People don't go to GC for great food. People go there because there's a consistent variety of food you can have as much as you want of for relatively cheap. You're not surprising or enlightening anyone by telling them the food there is crap. I grew up poor as h**l in a family of 7. It was a treat to go out at all, let alone somewhere I could have whatever I want, and however much of it I want without costing my cheap, poor a** parents a proportional fortunate.

I give people a lot of crap here, and I'm not really mad that you rape one of the few fond childhood memories of any and all dignity, but I want you to ask yourself one simple question. Who are you to judge what's amazing to a man that's hungry?

Gee, I wish there was something I could do before going there that would make the food taste much better

I've typically found that your average middle of the road chain restaurant has better tasting, better quality food for less than the all-you-can-eat prices of a buffet, and I'm typically very full or take some of my food home. The all-you-can-eat aspect doesn't improve the value a whole lot for me.

Did they have someone there to enforce the policy? If they don't maybe pass along my card. I could see things getting out of hand once word gets around that they have the tipple wonderfall up and running.

How does that really work anyway? Because the place is open all day, right? Would they boot you out if they noticed you were lingering for hours upon hours?

Not if you're in good with the manager.

I talk to all the servers, let the manager know (in a helpful way) when certain foods are running low, try to help keep the lines moving during busy hours, and if I'm not eating and I see a busser clearing a huge table I'll go over and lend a hand.

BOTTOM LINE: If the General Manager of the restaurant sees you as an asset, they'll look the other way on meal time straddles. This is certainly not the case with Chuck a Rama, and they have lost my business because of it.

Smart, but that seems like a lot of work. I think maybe loading up a backup or two with some leftovers and heading to the library to loiter/chow down is the better strategy.

Not sure if srs but the Golden Corral's in Utah don't have libraries.

So do i. But i don't get a little bit of everything at the average place.

Don't get me wrong, as a general rule buffets just aren't for me. Outside.of the free meal in Wendover, I've not been to a buffet or salad bar of any type in probably 4 years.

But i feel more like crap after judging those at a buffet, than after eating at one.
