What's new

Goodbye Booze, Hello To An Old Friend?

Yeah, I wouldn't be upset at it for a couple of million.

Not sure if Brewer feels jaded enough to not come back.

Plus he knows he basically lost the job to Matthews. That's why he got traded. He's a pure bench player if he returns to the Jazz. Not sure he'll be up to doing that.

Brewer lost the SG job to Matthews. I'd bet he starts at SF when he comes back.

Letting go of Boozer and then going after Brewer. Seems about a typical Jazz offseason. I am all excited. Especially if Brewer is going to be the replacement for Mathews or Korver for financial reasons.

Well, you have to hand it to KOC though. We saved a bunch of money, got first round pick, and get Brew back. Sounds pretty good to me. Does not make up for giving away Boozer, but not so bad in this circumstance.

Yeah you have got to be really excited about getting Brewer back. Opposing defenses will be losing sleep on how to guard him now.

I doubt that he would start at the SF spot over C.J. Miles. IMO, C.J. earned the starting SF spot with his play in the playoffs. However, the Jazz's previous logjam at the wing positions is now gone that with Booze going to Chicago. Andrei Kirilenko can move back over to his natural spot at PF and take over as the primary reserve. Millsap would become the starter at PF, obviously. This would open the door for Brewer to take over at one of the back up wing spots (Hayward would take the other one). Personally, I think that it would actually be a pretty good move. Hayward and Brewer would complement each other pretty well as a duo coming off the bench. Brewer is a slasher/defender while Hayward is an all-around player/shooter. If the Jazz are able to work out a sign and trade deal with Chicago for a trade exception, I want them to use that exception, Memo, and Fesenko in a trade to get a starting-quality center. Koufos is showing potential in the summer league. He could be in prime postion to earn consistent minutes while taking over as the back up C. I want this depth chart to start the season:

PG: Deron Williams, Ronnie Price, Sundiata Gaines
SG: Wesley Matthews, Ronnie Brewer (SF on offense), Othyus Jeffers
SF: C.J. Miles, Gordon Hayward (SG on offense)
PF: Paul Millsap, Andrei Kirilenko, Jeremy Evans (D-League)
C: New Starter, Kosta Koufos, ?

bringing Brewer back will never happen.

1. The Jazz already took RB's number, gave it to Larry Miller and retired it.
2. RB played half a season wearing a headband. It's like trying to bring an Amish kid back after Romspringa.
3. The Jazz have the 6'8" and no shot position pretty much covered now.
4. Pillow fort.

Seriously, If this doesn't prove that Jazz Management has no ****ing idea what they're doing...I don't know what does.

Whom did you expect for midlevel or less?

Certainly not another wing with no jump shot and with enough history on the Jazz to show what he is'nt capable of doing. They would be better off trying to re-sign Wes or Korver or both, rather than go after Brewer.
Without Okur being effective, outside shooting becomes even more important now, to get ANY offense going inside. Brewer was a beneficiary of Deron/Booz. Now Booz is not here and he will be even less of a factor. He will also be taking mins away from Hayward.

There are better options available to us for midlevel (or less since I am sure we are not going over lux tax this year and there is still Fess and Mathews to re-sign)?
