What's new

Gordon Hayward shooting 27% in the last 10 games.

Well...

It would help if he ever tried to develop a post game or get closer for an easier jump shot.

Instead, he plays like Korver and constantly chucks up forced jumper after jumper. If he continues to miss he then moves further away to chuck. He still has yet to learn that dunks are easier than 35 foot fadeaway bombs.

And how the hell does he not have a post game?

I question Andrei Hayward's work ethic just like the original Gordon Kirlenko. Both seem obsessed with video games and enjoy the life of being a celebrity. Neither seem very committed to working their asses off and actually develop a game. Hayward is exactly the same player he was 4 years ago... Just chucking and missing more with the occasional fast break dunk.
Spot on...it's like you can read my mind. Repped.

At least Locke is no longer propagating myths about other teams scheming against Hayward, or the primary scorer load being too heavy, or being tired from running all those miles. Now Locke is proudly pumping the 16/5/5 meme. No mention of minutes. No mention that Evan Turner is 17/4/6 in 5 less minutes. Or that Turner is stat inflated garbage.

When you say That decision, what are you talking about??? Did he move in with his girlfriend or something?

It's called NOT HAVING A GAME.

It's not Hayward's girl that's causing this suckage. It's called being in the lesgue for years and still not having a game. What has he done? What is his go to move? What has he added to his game since his rookie year?

He seriously looks like the exact same player from 4 years ago.

Andrei Hayward's struggles have more to do with his wasting time on WOW rather than actually developing a post game than anything else.

Just look at how Alec has improved. Once, a one dimensional driver. Now? A solid ball handler who has a devastating midrange jumper. Even his 3 ball looks nice now whereas before it looked Deshawn Brewerish.

Hayward shows no desire to improve as a player. Trey and Alec went to workout with Stockton in the offseason. Kanter and Favors worked out with Malone. Where the hell was Hayward?

When Ray Allen was shooting before the Miami game, Trey Burke watched and asked for pointers from a future HOFer...again, where the hell was Hayward?

Either he believes he's too good to ask others for help or he simply has no interest or desire to really improve his game. Very disappointing.

I seriously don't think hayard gives a crap. I never see him get excited or anything...he has like 0 emotion. Not a bad thing, but my god the guy seems like he is not even interested in the game.

He knows he's going to be getting an overpaid contract. Why should he care? it sucks for us fans. Hayward just in IDGAF mode.

Hayward, the guy who worked his way from an unheralded HS player to an unheralded college freshman to the best player on a NCAA finals team has no desire to improve?

LOL.

He is having a bad year because he has never played this role in his career. Give him some time to adapt. Hayward is a straight baller and the doubters are comical.

Hayward is a good player and contributes a lot to the team owing to his all-around game.
(but he has turned into a chucker.)
He should know that he is suited to a supporting-crew-role, not that of a leader of a team.
He has high BBIQ definitely and should not immerse that rare quality into his own suffocating scoring urge.
He can rebound well, dish out a fair number of assists and needless to say, defend well.
Even those qualities make him a keeper at a fair price (9M at most?).

and he can/will score too.
But for that to be optimal, he should be put in a team with well-defined roles in O and D.
Jazz, however, are a team in turmoil with a subpar coach and without a leader.
I say GH is a keeper but only in a supporting role.

His 'chucking' boils down to coaching more than anything... Ty runs several plays designed to get Hayward a shot. Do you want him in game to say, '**** you! I'm not shooting it! I'll give it to one of the other 5 or 6 guys on the team that can't shoot it either.'. He's just doing what he's told, he just can't fit the role. It will get better.

Keep in mind, we do not know Jazz game plan for each game.

You can tell who plays are run for to start a game, start a half.

Hayward has not been in the top few options starting games. I do not know why, Jazz are probably developing and evaluating everyone.

He also has not been given a chance to be #1 for the year. He was given that the 1st 15 games or so ... end of game getting shots etc....

Now end of games is Burks. Who has some great end of games and others where he dives into player. Burks is heavily dependent on refs. Once his rep is diving into you, the defense will change and the whistles will stop. He is a GREAT 1-1 make a play guy though.

Back to Hayward, though I do not feel he is a #1, he was not given any where near the season to develop that skill. We rotate that opportunity.

Again, this accomplishes tanking and evaluating.

I like Hayward a lot, but what drives me nuts is his lack of emotion and his lack of taking it to the rim WHEN WE KNOW HE CAN DO IT. He has some impressive drives/flushes over his career. Maybe he is taking it easy not to get hurt since he is an RFA.

I still stand by what I have always said.

When all is said and done, I do think he is worth 10/year.

Someone will overpay at 12-13/year. Question of the day is will Jazz match?

Also, will Jazz sign Burks this year to his extension ?

DL has some decisions.

Look what the pacers did yesterday in their trade. They got Evan turner just in case Lance walks/gets too much money they don't want to offer. (He is a FA though).

Point is this is just a business and no one should be untouchable (except Lebron, Durant and few others)

I feel we made a mistake not trading Hayward to Celtics.....would have gotten something.

I do not think Jazz will match 12/13. (and yes, I do not think he is worth that....but he'll get it)

Hayward's natural abilities alone allowed him to excel in HS and College...like 99% of all players that make it to the NBA. But once you're a pro, everyone is just as good or better than you, so you need to work and train harder than the next guy and always be looking at ways to improve your game if you want to excel at this level. Like Thriller said, Hayward is the same player he was 4 years ago as a rookie, he hasn't added anything to his game and still has the same limitations/weaknesses. While other teammates are seeking help/advice from Hall of Fame players to improve their game, it's a quite disturbing that our "face of the franchise" is nowhere to be seen. Hayward shows he has the desire for more money, but I don't see the desire in him to put in the extra work to become a better player. I simply don't.
