i've actually seen gordon hayward play in person a couple of times, dude is a baller. good ball handler for his size....butler actually used him as a "point forward" sometimes. loves the behind the back dribble move at the top of the key against his defender. good rebounder and has a good shot (struggled a bit this season but he is def a good shooter). anyone who says he's not athletic hasn't seen him play or is simply stereotyping. he had a ridiculous block against my vikes as a freshman.....it might be on youtube somewhere. to quote gary waters "he's a 6'8 guard". would i draft him at 9? no considering the other prospects available but i would take him over a lot of guys being mentioned. i think he will be a good player in the NBA. little surprised he didn't stay in school.

I watched Hayward play in one of Butler's first games of the season (I think it was against Davidson). I was very impressed, so I hopped on the mock draft sites to see where he was slated to go. To my surprise, they had him pegged to go in the twenties. In my mind, that's where he stayed; even though he continued to roll and was only a half-inch from winning the big dance.
I have to admit that leading up to the draft, I bought into the Givony and Locke concerns about his defense and shooting at the NBA level. Could be true, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of us fell victim to "groupthink" (look it up), which seems to be the Jazz-fan M.O. anyway. I hope he just kills it in the NBA.
