I just want to give G-time the props that he deserves. I dont praise him enough and occasionally say negative things about him. I didn't like that the jazz matched his contract offer from the hornets but he has earned every dollar imo.

Most all of us agree that he is not a true #1 go to superstar but he is about as good as it gets as a #2 guy.
He still continues to improve even though he has been in the league for a while now.
His play of late is all star caliber. I never hear anything negative about him off court and never really hear about any attitude problems or bitching despite the fact that all these losses are probably pissing him off.

He is the only one of our top guys that has not missed any games this year and he just keeps plugging away, putting up big time numbers and playing big time minutes while defenses continue to grab, hold, push, and mug him all game long knowing that he is the only real consistent offensive threat currently playing for the jazz.
He can play and be effective in any kind of system with any kind of role and with any kind of teammates around him. He is effective playing multiple positions. He plays both ends of the court too.

Thank god for Gordon Hayward.

Yes, the invisible sky daddy has blessed up.

Funny that people want to dump Gordon because he's not the best player in the league. He's only a really really good player.

With guys like Harrison Barnes poised to get the max, can't imagine the Jazz not ponying up in a couple years.

First off, Stockton and Malone always seemed to have reasonable contracts. That said, I wish Malone would have taken a pay cut during our two finals years to bring in one more piece. Instead he took a cut after that to chase a championship with the Lakers.

I think Hayward could be a first option in an offense with better shooters, we just can't give him spacing so he gets double on the drive which causes a lot of turnovers. I wish we still had Korver. Hayward would also do awesome with a PG that could create and score. Hayward is a very good shooter when he is open. Unfortunately our sets cause him to take a lot of shots moving off a screen or off of one on one moves which are obviously less efficient, although he does a decent job. Exum may turn into that piece eventually. He definitely had the quickness and athleticism, but appeared to lack the confidence.

We need to quit giving playing time to players that can't contribute, and we need to spend $ to bring in players that can contribute.

We win the championship.

I agree with this. Horny was a better 3 point and free throw shooter, but was playing on bad legs. Hayward is the better all around player. Defensively great, and imagine the open shots he'd get with Karl rolling to the basket.

Horny guarded MJ on one leg. That guy would kill it I the PnR game these days too... All those floaters and he was a good passer. Keep horny and trade B Russ for Hayward. Gtime is better than hornacek and would have been better equipped defensively to play in those series.

Gtime has been great. Management needs to give him more help. I get the slow build but I would be upset as a player if the team wasn't doing everything they could to help me when I am in my prime.

For those of you who believe that Hayward is not a legit #1 -- please blame the front office and not Gordon. He is who he is and he consistently works hard and improves.

And by the way, look back three years when no one thought he is or would be a #1. Most thought he had no chance to be a #2. He's proven folks wrong before.

Great thread fish!! Time for everyone to realize what we have in Hayward for all the reasons u listed. Still remember that ridiculous thread about how Hayward not going to summer league as if to say he wasn't a team player or supporter or the numerous threads about how he is too invested in video games and doesn't work hard e numerous posts about how he is too invested in video games and doesn't work hard enough. I think he works as hard as anyone on the team. Just look how he's changed his body. I thought it was amazing how big he was coming into last year, and it's just as big a difference from last year to this year.

We are lucky to have him on the team.

Mind blowing

Imagine Hayward guarding MJ on that last shot. Hayward has always been exellent at using his great length to bother shots

Are you saying Hayward would have shut down Jordan in the Finals?

Hey Thee Jazz Fan, why don't you try being Thee Rational Fan?

I was considering starting a trade hayward thread with my alt account couscous. This team is built on sand. Trade the guy before he opts out to a team like Boston with all the assets in the world and try to flip them for a couple top spots in next year's draft.

An idea so embarrassing it deserves an alt account.

Hayward is a top player in the league. No All Star, but a player any team would want in a second

I went to the Knicks/Jazz game five days ago because of a guy like Heyward. Knick tickets are super expensive so you have to be super selective in which games you attend. We choose our Knick games based upon A) will it be a competitive game, and B) who we want to see on the opponent's team. A) Yeah, we knew we could take the Jazz; and B) Jazz have some really top players that I wanted to see play in person, Heyward being one of them.

Also, I've noticed that young kids like Heyward. For whatever reason (clean cut, talented but not I-can't-do-that talented...) kids seem to like the guy. He should be on our Olympic team this year. Coach K gets a say and Heyward is a style of player that seems to favor what Coach K wants in a team.

Funny and odd to see Jazz fans here voicing disfavor with him. You fools would probably knock Melo and Porzingis if they were on your team. (Two guys, by the way, that killed your team last Wednesday.) Heyward is a solid b-ball player. Very solid. Be very thankful you have him.
