Even the B Knicks offer is better than the Cavs A offer. We don’t know exactly what was on the table from the Knicks after the Barrett extension, but neither did the Jazz. They just got sick of the process so they pulled a trigger on the first thing that met their nominal demands (3 unprotected 1sts).

I still think they could’ve gotten 2 unprotected, a 2028 top-5 protected pick, another team’s protected pick (or two), a swap (or two), and Fournier/Quickley/Toppin.

Jazz would’ve returned less win now talent and earlier picks, which is better for a clean tank and rebuild.

But whatever. I get it. If Donovan’s passive-aggressive “leadership” and proclivity to leak his displeasure does to the Cavs what it did to the Jazz, then the deal levels out some. But the Knicks were gonna miss the playoffs with Donovan next year and I really would’ve liked that pick for a kickstart to the rebuild (and another one of their too-many 2023 protected picks).

That’s not a better offer.
Yep, Agree with this. This is not a better offer.

If all the film study Sexton has been doing, which he never had time for before the injury, pays posh dividends as a playmaker, Utah won this deal without question.
What better offers could the Jaz have gotten, then to get a imporved replacement level 5th year pro for their 3 time all star, along with 2 solid starting caliber wing/forwards and a bunch of picks?
I think Mitchell for as impressive as he has been is rated fine on paper but overrated in trade value here. This makes the return the Jazz got exceptional.
I bet in 3 years or less this trade will largely be looked at as Ainge Fleeced Koby Altman not once but twice.
