Grantland: Capturing the Noncontenders’ State of Mind - Utah Jazz

I don't know why they keep thinking that Lawson is a viable option here. He had said in the past that he hates Utah

I'm fairly certain he would punch that ticket out of Denver to Utah faster than a Gobert rebound jam at this point. . .

Difficult to be certain after he said that Utah its the only team in the NBA he wouldn't play for. Nuggets are also playing a bit better since the Shaw's experiment. More importantly, does the FO in Utah see him as a good fit? They might want to wait on Exum's development. Burke on the other hand could find him himself in trade talks if he doesn't improve during the offseason.

I don't blame these guys for thinking Hood is a throw in chip. No one has seen us play this year. No one has watched us play the last couple of weeks. They won't be using Hood as a "throw in player" next April.

I don't think Utah trades for a starting PG. Unless it is a current All-Star PG. They are all in with Exum.

I really like it but am very against training hood. If we do he creates a big gap that in turn needs to be filled.

We have enough other stuff to trade.

Dude made an offhand quip about Utah on Reddit. It was hardly a manifesto. Additionally we were right in the middle of Corbin stagnation Hell at the moment with Denver regularly rolling over us. It would be like asking a Jazz player if they would play in Sacramento right now. Every one of them would say Hell no, and it would have little to do with the city. But yeah, although starting Lawson would almost assuredly punch a ticket into the playoffs, We probably have more long term potential with Exum. Still, I wouldn't cry if we could turn "assets" into Lawson.

So Hood is the kind of guy I'd want Utah to be trading FOR or signing. So no trading him away.

As long as one of those "assets" was not Hood of course. . .

Agree on that. Although I'm not ready to trade for a starting pg....yet. If I were in the FO I would look forward to Exum's development this offseason. Burke? If he doesn't show progress I'd be very active during the trade deadline to maybe package him with a pick for a solid veteran pg who could help mentor Exum and play 20-25 solid minutes of the bench or start for a stretch of games if need it.

I lashed out on those who wanted trade Hood LONG before it was cool to like him.

Where is Hantlers now to disagree with every positive post about Hood?

In a self-constructed prison, crushed by the literal truth of every sentiment in the Holy Bible (King James edition), wondering about the imperfections of family, feeling some Self swept up in an awful tide.
