Greg Oden

Especially if Utah let's Millsap and/or Jefferson walk, I think it is worth it--in risk to reward ratio--for Utah to invest some of its cap space in Greg Oden. He may prove to be another Sam Bowie, but if he got his alcohol issues under control, some quality rest on his legs, and a better training situation, he could still revive his career. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a healthy giant trio of Oden, Kanter, and Favors. If Miami can only offer him $3m, Utah could offer him $4-5m on a 1-3year deal. They could point to Tinsley and Josh Howard as examples of players that had their careers revived in Utah after injury and drama (Howard to lose it again as soon as he leaves though).

Oden would have been a HOF'er if he didn't have knees of glass.

He is no Darko or Sam Bowie.

He just did not have any luck. Otherwise, he was a beast in those limited minutes.

Why? So he can sit on the bench eating up money and a roster spot while he nurses yet another injury.

I'd give him guaranteed contract for the first year and an non-guaranteed contract for the second year!!

No way. that would mean we would be doing what the T-Wolves did with Brandon Roy... Why would we financially tie ourselves to a player that in like 3 seasons was only able to play a totel of 82 games and had like 2 season ending injuries with the same knee or on different knees or whatever.

I've thought this for a long time. Overall low risk and giant reward. We've paid A LOT of guys WAY more money to do nothing for multiple years.

But true, we don't want to ruin what we currently have now which is everyone earning their paychecks.

I'd like to see Oden make a comeback and be successful, but damn it, man... with the Heat? I don't think it's a good idea for Utah to offer him a contract, though. But the Heat? No, no, no.
