I highly recommend this video that debunks some of the standard gun control myths.
1) The ‘Gun Show Loophole’ Allows Anyone, Even Criminals, To Get Guns
2) Nobody’s Demanding Gun Confiscation
3) Buying A Gun Is As Easy As Buying Groceries
4) Concealed Carriers Don’t Prevent Mass Shootings
5) The Second Amendment Only Applies To Muskets
6) Gun Violence Is Skyrocketing
7) Gun-Free Zones Prevent Gun Violence
Thank god you were here to dispelled arguments not really made in here.
That's not why I posted. I am just giving information to those that may need it. There is a lot of BS out there.
Do you make that remark to every single person that starts a new thread about something?
Nah, just when people spam non debated points over and over. Also, I question your desire to help tbh. If that was your intent you’d surely pick better places than Jazzfanz.
Is thread meant to be a "place for conservatives or nah?"
Here is an interesting myth. The founding fathers intended for individual citizens to be able to own guns, that was the purpose of the 2nd amendment, exclusively to guarantee individual gun ownership.
Everyone forgets the phrase "a well-regulated militia". The intention was more around the states rights to maintain a militia to keep the federal government from imposing its will by force. It also had to do with the fact that the founding fathers never intended on having an army per se. Instead they wanted to rely on calling men to arms and they would show up with their rifles to fight to defend the nation. It wasn't until the 60's that the NRA started heavily pushing for individual gun rights that this aspect even became a thing. Sure it also allows individuals to own guns but that was not the original intention of the 2nd amendment.
In all southern states, blacks were explicitly forbidden from owning guns or ammo. A fact that seems to go unmentioned by those tea bagger types who feel like any gun control is a restriction of their god given freedumb.
Also, this is the best thread in the history of this site.
From the history I’ve read the NRA was all for gun control back in the 60s, mainly because of the Black Panthers who openly carried in order to “police the police”. The NRA backed the bill that ended open carry in California in 1967. It wasn’t until the 70s, after the Panthers were largely disbanded and no longer a threat, that the NRA changed its tune.
You are acting authoritative here, but incorrect. HELLER.
Not sure what a SC ruling from 2008 has to do with what the founding fathers intended for the second amendment.
I mean, we had over two hundred years before the second amendment was interpreted to guarantee a private right to gun ownership. It's certainly possible, likely even, it will be interpreted differently in the future. I wouldn't be so confident as to invoke Heller as the final word on the matter. It's not like Supreme Court decisions are unassailable.
