HA! Kanter being shopped for cap space (for Horford)

Which is why I said Horford is a better player

People keep veering away from my main point though which was this rumor doesn't add up. The Thunder would need to move Kanter (which would be hard because of his no trade clause which is in effect until the 12th) plus Kyle Singler plus renouncing free agents and maybe trading a few others to outbid anyone for Horford. Which doesn't make sense when they just picked up Domantas Sabonis, and have Steven Adams already.

It's not like it would be that hard. If Horford tentatively agrees to go to OKC, which it sounds like will happen, and if OKC can get another team to agree to take on Kanter when July 12th hits, problem solved.

Except who is going to swallow Kanter's contract without a little candy coating? OKC doesn't really have any extra assets to dole out. They can't really include a draft pick as they have 2 outstanding.

I'm sure there's an incompetent GM somewhere that'll take him on out of desperation after whiffing on FA elsewhere

Horford will sign elsewhere long before July 12. Boston is already prepared to give him a max offer on his visit according to reports.

If Horford wants to go to OKC and they have a tentative deal set up to clear cap space, why wouldn't he be willing to wait? Players waiting for their desired team to clear cap space is fairly common, and it's also fairly common for a marquee FA to not sign with a team until closer to mid-July.

No, getting someone in a trade isn't as exciting as pulling in a free agent. It is like how a stolen watermelon tastes better than one you bought. I am completely convinced that if Trey Burke were a free agent he would have just signed a 3 year contract at 20 million. Nobody will trade for him though. . .

That is because the Jazz aren't trying to unload Trey Burke for nothing more than $3 million in cap space...

I don't know why the Op thinks its funny Kanter is being shopped to open room for Horford an All star.
Talk about being petty. I don't like Kanter at all and never did, I said it when he first started and some of you was hyping him as a future all star and Karl Malone type but its no knock on him if a team wanted to upgrade for an all star. OKC is a contender with Durant make no doubt about it and imagine gaining a piece like Al, Any team would do it..

Come on this is a joke right? If you can play you can play and a team would want you.. No one traded for him simply because the Jazz showed the hands and everyone knew Jazz wanted him gone. That's just Business 101 sir.

Id like to see OKC get My boy Meyers Leonard. He not really tough on defense or down low at the moment but could be a stretch 4 for OKC and another shooter Durant and Russ could kick to when they drive. Not as a starter obviously but the kid has some major talent.

Cracks me up to hear this...I wouldn't be surprised if they got an offer for him though, he is young and is a decent scorer...I just wanna see him on another bad team...Sacramento would be perfect

Tradeable for what though? Do you think they will get good value back or it will be a salary dump?

Right now it wouldn't be great value. If it was for another player, probably someone similar, who is very good at some things, but with serious holes in their game. In a year or two, if he continues to play well, it will be a different story.

As for this rumour of dumping him for cap space to sign Horford, if it's true, it's not really the lulz some fans are making it out to be. If OKC really knows they can sign Horford, then they WANT the cap space for a better player. Not quite the same as just dumping a player for cap space with no idea what they can do with it. If that was the case, OKC would definitely hang on to Kanter, as his trade value will certainly increase over the next two years.
