What's new

Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans

I haven't bought any for years. Just sit on the front lawn, eat BBQ and watch everybody else flush their money away.
I don't buy them. I go watch a couple cities do their shows. Good enough for me and mine.

Those that do, be safe. Nobody go blow their hand off. But if you do, get it on video.

One of my co-workers neighbors house caught fire (from fireworks) and burned most of it down last night. (Thankfully no one was hurt)

Im big time bah humbug scrooge when it comes to fireworks.
People spend tons of money on extremely short term enjoyment (horrible investment).
Fireworks pollute the air, deposit litter all over the place, start fires, injure tons of people, scare the hell out of pets, keep people awake who need to sleep, set off car alarms.

I hate them. My dog gets so scared at this time of year every year for like a whole month. Won't go out to pee at night due to fear of fireworks so we have to put down pee pads for him in the house and he is a nervous wreck all the time. Fireworks wake my baby up all the time. I have to go to bed early and get up early for work and it's hard to sleep with all the noise. There is trash all over my street, sidewalk, and lawn.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

This!

I buy some sparklers and pop its and things like that for the kids to play with during the day. But we watch the entire cities fireworks show. From my back yard we can see about 60% of the town. SO we light the fire pit and watch a panorama show. About 10 different firework shows all at once. As they were ending the city started and that was a nice finale. My 3 year old was loving it along with my shizu-daushund (spelling?). My rot was cowering in my living room...

Happy 4th of July everyone!

I bet me an my neighbors spent easily $5000 on aerials. I spent $500 plus an I was not close to one the bigger shows. Such a cool night!

The Don't Tread On Me one was my favourite an only twelve bucks. Perfect name for Fourth of July to.

You basically literally lit your money on fire. Awesomeness.

BTW what hobby in life does not burn holes in your pockets? Hobbies are the spice of life. I work to live an enjoy not to hoard like Mr. Scrooge here.

Yup it was! Better than betting on a NBA team
Good point, yet I saved up change for years and then invested it in something with the potential to yeild me a return that would almost double my money. I had a ton off knowledge on what I was investing in. It was a risk with a possibility of a big payoff.

I don't hoard but if I'm going to spend thousands of dollars then I want it to be for something more than an hour or 2 of oohs and ahhs with the off chance that I burn my house down or injure myself. Just not quite the return that I look for when I spend money.

Much rather use that money for a week in Hawaii or something.

To each their own though
