What's new

has anybody successfully gotten out of a contract with Verizon?

$80.. which equals as many minutes and text as I'll ever conceivably use + unlimited data. Apparently, it's a plan that they don't even offer anymore, and a lot of smartphoners would love it. I'm just not that guy.

Yeah man, that is a dang good deal compared to the rest of us.
Cricket is still cheaper though.

I know somebody. I asked him to do something.

I'd really like to get out of mine. Has anybody done this? This smartphone **** is ****ing highway robbery... talk about useless spending...

I really do know somebody that works for Verizon. She said that if you have a relative call in and say that you're dead or have some sort of malady that prevents you from using your phone they can cancel the plan. She said that 3rd degree burns on your hands should work. Maybe a coma from being in a car wreck. By law they cannot request medical proof or verification so they have to take your word for it. She did say that they can of course see your phone usage so you would probably need to turn the phone off for a couple of weeks and not use it...

THIS is what I'm talking about!

If it's early in the contract, it might be worth it to just pay the cancellation fee. Typically it's around $200. Otherwise, it'll be very difficult for you to get out of your contract. They only allow it for special situations, like not having any reception in your area.
