Hayward commented in that grantland interview that lots of teams are having the big guy come down on pick and rolls, which opens up the ball handler for mid range shots and floaters. If he can consistently hit the open floater or mid range shot, it will be great for our team. This will force teams to either change their D to stop him, or keep it the same and leave him open for a high percentage shot. If they change their defensive philosophy on Burke on those pick and roll situations it should lead to more open 3's or layups depending on what the defense focuses on.
I think the ability to hit a floater will be huge next year.
I'm liking it.
We saw this earlier when Burke was the primary ball handler. Trey is great in the mid range. His play has dipped ever since Corbin has given the "keys" to Hayward. Burke was taken great care of the ball and getting teammates involved and the team was winning.
