What's new

Hawks got Budenholzer (spurs assist) as HC - another one bites the dust.

The earliest Ty is gone is next offseason. Let it go.

That's what I thought as well...

But we could have had this guy in with limited personnel/players for the first year, with the understanding of getting a decent player in the '14 draft and make a proper push for the playoffs in '15.

Good coaches with pedigree is hard to find. I'll take this guy over Ty any day of the week.

PJ Carlesimo has (or had) a stronger pedigree. Association with greatness doesn't always mean greatness.

Possible. Good luck, Atlanta!

This hire got me thinking, if Lindsey wasn't interested in Budenholzer (knowing that Budenholzer had been interviewing for HC jobs over last couple years) - it should mean that Lindsey has another HC plan going forward because surely he can't be happy with Ty.

If Sloan becomes a "consultant" of sorts in the FO, may be bringing Phil Johnson might be Lindsey's idea?

Did he help win 4 championships (possibly 5) over the past 17 years in the league?

He has and had NBA head coaching experience then was the 1st assistant on the Spurs when they won three championships in five years. Then he left the nest and, whoopsie, he wasn't Gregg Popovich II.

Not that you support Corbin (just trying to avoid anyone thinking your a "Ty lover"), you're just stating facts that disproves someone's opinion. Although you may have given someone an idea to start "why don't the Jazz hire PJ Carlesimo" thread.

Personally for this Jazz team I'm also against hiring old retread coaches, now a young coach that was let go (like Sloan's situation for example) I'd be okay with but other then that for the Jazz the best chance for them getting a better than average coach would be to give someone their first shot at a job.

Brad Stevens?

Brad Stevens?

Yeah I knew someone would bring that up. I wanted to see if the Phil Johnson idea would gain any traction. Apparently not.

Actually this would be the perfect time to bring in Brad.. as we could tank next year - give our guys experience, give Brad experience...

Would Hayward even let Utah take Stevens away from Butler? Gordon sure loves his Bulldog basketball.
