Hayward --> Celtics ?

We aren't getting their 1st round pick guys... It's says that they are reluctant on giving any of the 1st rounders that they have. I would say no to any trade that didn't involve their pick though. Hayward is way better then that. Just imagine them next year if they had Rondo, Hayward, and a top 5 pick. They would be good fast and we would be in an even worse position.

Also, if they put much protection on their pick, even if they do trade it, it won't help us as much this year.

Remember KOC was here when hayward drafted.

I do not think DL values him as was evident with no contract

DL values him, but just not at the price - whatever that was - that Gordon and his agent asked for. Jazz did put a contract offer on the table. Hayward wanted more.

Seriously, though, the "league source" could be the Celtic's hot dog vendor. When any team is losing, it's automatically assumed they have to "rebuild" and may accept draft picks for their better players. Jazz don't have to deal and I'd be surprised if this trade goes down. In any case, I'm sure DL would be smart enough to only accept a pick with ZERO restrictions. If Ainge wants top-3 protection, you walk away from the table. And for that reason, I think Boston does the same. They can always revisit a trade after the draft, exchanging the rights to their pick for Hayward.

Jerry Sloan was a big proponent for drafting Hayward. Obviously Paul George was on our radar too.

You stupid stupid people. Don't you know Hayward will not get ANY offers from ANYONE else this year?

Once the trade deadline passes this week and Hayward enters restricted free agency, the only other option for Boston would be a sign-and-trade. Basically, the Jazz would have to do Boston a favor.

Avery Bradley for Gordon Hayward!
That would be lovely! However Utah has been known for their silence at the trade deadline in years past. They even let Big Al AND Millsap walk away for free last year. These guys are either asking way too much for their players or have supreme confidence (bordering on crazy) in their development of young players
Love the response by some. Yep, we should let Hayward go for Avery Bradley. Otherwise we're just asking for too much. You know why Boston is in this terrible situation? Because they were afraid to let a couple of their players walk away for nothing and are now stuck with the horrible Gerald Wallace contract.

Now they have no room to manuever next season without giving up good assets. They're stuck.

The Jazz made a statement (via Chad Ford) to say they expect to keep Hayward long-term, which is basically code for "Your offer has to be really solid, or we're not going to move him." Of course, there's no need to make such a statement unless he's coming up in trade discussion that the Jazz are willing to entertain.

I agree. This accomplishes two things. 1) What you said, and 2) Scares away potential suitors from making an offer on Hayward in the offseason which in effect reduces his value...Jazz can get him cheap.

Although one way it could be possible is if:
A. Boston is not confident in thier tank.... they think they will end up around 7th due to the strength of other teams tanks and rondo being back.
B. They think gordon is going to improve ALOT and end up similar to paul george. (I hear thier coach loves hayward right?)

If those 2 things are true then they might look at it like trading vonleh or gordon (7th pick) for paul george (hayward)

That would look like a good trade from thier perspective

And this is precisely why I get so frustrated with those who just wanted KOC and now want DL to just do a deal. Let's not back ourselves into a corner like the Knicks, Celtics, etc. who have bad contracts on their books. Taking on 1-yr for unneeded cap space? Smart. Taking on multiple years....unless the return is overwhelming? Dumb.

If we trade Hayward to Boston, we should offer him 14 mil/yr for 3 years in the summer just to **** with Boston haha

I'm the biggest Hayward partisan here--but the Celts #1, you'd have to do that. For nothing else though: I don't want Rondo, I don't want no ****-butt jeff green, i want an unprotected #1. I doubt the Celts would do it, but if they like Hayward that much... worth a shot.

Boston are currently 6th worst and who knows some teams might even out tank them.

If they slip down to 8th or worse, I think that's a fair deal on both sides for a straight swap with Hayward. (you're looking at Aaron Gordon, Garry Harris, etc)
