Jazz have no reason to trade Hayward unless the offer is clearly attractive.

Not happening.
You stupid stupid people. Don't you know Hayward will not get ANY offers from ANYONE else this year?
DL values him, but just not at the price - whatever that was - that Gordon and his agent asked for. Jazz did put a contract offer on the table. Hayward wanted more.
Seriously, though, the "league source" could be the Celtic's hot dog vendor. When any team is losing, it's automatically assumed they have to "rebuild" and may accept draft picks for their better players. Jazz don't have to deal and I'd be surprised if this trade goes down. In any case, I'm sure DL would be smart enough to only accept a pick with ZERO restrictions. If Ainge wants top-3 protection, you walk away from the table. And for that reason, I think Boston does the same. They can always revisit a trade after the draft, exchanging the rights to their pick for Hayward.
Tue Feb 18, 2014 1:13 PMAvery Bradley for Gordon Hayward! That would be lovely! However Utah has been known for their silence at the trade deadline in years past. They even let Big Al AND Millsap walk away for free last year. These guys are either asking way too much for their players or have supreme confidence (bordering on crazy) in their development of young players
I agree. This accomplishes two things. 1) What you said, and 2) Scares away potential suitors from making an offer on Hayward in the offseason which in effect reduces his value...Jazz can get him cheap. The Jazz made a statement (via Chad Ford) to say they expect to keep Hayward long-term, which is basically code for "Your offer has to be really solid, or we're not going to move him." Of course, there's no need to make such a statement unless he's coming up in trade discussion that the Jazz are willing to entertain.
