Hayward finger injury

My guess is Hawyward is back November 14 at home against Memphis.

I doubt he'd come back during the East Coast trip.

That's 11 games missed Jazz go 5-6 or 4-7. Not the end of the world

That seems about right. I'm betting he comes back earlier than later.

I'm assuming for the next 6 weeks Hayward can stay in good cardio shape running at least....

My guess of 45 wins is looking worse and worse. We might not even get there.

I mean, we'll be a little hurt defensively by his absence, but I don't think it's going to be a thing where we get torched by opposing small forwards on a nightly basis until Hayward returns. Small forwards might perform better than they otherwise would, but with the additions of Hill and Exum, plus a healthy Favors and Gobert, I think our defense this year even without Hayward would still be better overall than it was last year. We're weaker at defending small forwards without him, but with Hill/Exum and healthy Favors/Gobert, much better at defending opposing guards and the paint.

Where we'll really feel the hurt is on the offensive end.

I just flat out disagree. Hayward does a lot on the defensive end for this team that goes unnoticed. I don't mean to necessarily say that this means small forwards will torch us. NBA is nearly never 1v1 anyways. Hayward switched a lot towards the end of last year. For example Quin would put Hayward on Draymond allowing him to switch on Curry instead of Lyles, who he would hide on Iggy or somebody. Hayward provides versatility on the defensive end at the small forward that we can't get from anyone else is all I'm saying.

I'm not downplaying the offensive production we are losing just worried about the defensive production as well.

Some publication had Hayward listed as our most important defensive player.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Hayward isn't an extremely valuable defender. Just that, compared to last year, we take a hit without him and we offset that hit by having a healthy Gobert/Favors/Exum playing along with the addition of George Hill.
