If Hayward wanted to go to the Clippers to play with an elite PG, I could see that maybe. I'm not sure Boston is all that attractive an opportunity when it's said and done. Would he go to Indiana to play with Paul George? If the Jazz take a step forward, as planned, they should probably convince Hayward to stay. I think the Jazz would max Hayward without blinking. The question here is whether they'll want to or be able to also max Favors.

How BeanClown could have inferred "Hayward still unhappy" from the article is beyond me. And then to take it the next step to "as good as gone" is ridiculous. Last year he spent his offseason in Indiana. This year? Utah. Yep, sure seems like he's decided to leave. But the Utah Chamber of Commerce will be happy he's building a new home; at least it indicates he wants to come back to visit.
If I were Gordon, I know that I would have expressed my displeasure with playing for a losing team and the FO refusing to spend money for a bench. And I likely would have said, "either do something or trade me." I'd actually respect Hayward MORE if something like that had happened.
So Dennis met with Gordon (that is a fact DL revealed) and then DL adds some quality vets. I think Utah is committed to paying Gordon the max. And they can pay more than any other team. Sure, he could leave. I'd probably put the odds at 75/25 for him staying. A lot of that, IMO, depends on how Utah does. It's not like he can go to GS, Cleveland or SA for the max. So Utah may in fact be the best team he could join. And I think the Brad Stevens thing is overplayed. Sure that was his college coach, but he will have been under Quin for just as long.

In my opinion Hayward's tradability should depend on the Jazz record after the first 40-50 games of the upcoming season. If they are securely in playoff position then keep him till the end of the season. If they fail unexpectedly the beginning of the season then trade him before the 2017 trade deadline.
I think Hayward could potentially want to be reunited with his old college coach in Boston. I think DL would trade Hayward if a deal was right but evidently Boston doesn't have the pieces needed to do a trade DL likes.

I haven't heard Locke say this once.
I think this is the first year Hayward has actually stayed in Utah in the off-season for the majority of the time. I still think it's hilarious the last major player we traded (D-Will) because we were worried about him staying Utah still lives in Utah and spends most of his off-season time here.
They would say this regardless of their belief about re-signing Hayward. If they thought he was leaving they would posture to get both of the Net's first round picks owned by the Celtics. It is a chess match.
