So you have Brown Tatum and a bunch of draft picks to look forward to playing with. I was thinking I could wish him the best, but nah. I hope it crashes and burns badly. Wizard and Bucks coming for that *** everyone acting like Boston is this awesome team that can be locked into the one seed. That team is built super weird with no real direction. They are not as good as people pretend. I know I sound salty but I've thought that all of last year, and into this offseason. If they get back to the ECF I hope LeBron dumps on them. I've never had a team in the NBA that I genuinely enjoy rooting against, but it will be easy with the Celtics.

Anyone remember Boozer and Dwill after they left Utah? No one else does either.

Boston barely made it out of every round until the ECF. A few things happen differently and they get eliminated in the first round. Hayward doesn't put them over the top. Eventually Hayward's gonna realize he left Gobert and Gobert was the best player on any of the teams he was considering. And Snyder was the best coach on any of the three teams. And Dennis Lindsey was the best GM.

Hayward ****ed up. The Jazz didn't **** up. Hayward ****ed up.

I do not understand the hate for Hayward...

I'm not saying they aren't competitive. But I think there is a big distinction between the type of guy who will take an easier route to try and achieve their goal, and those that want to stick with the harder road because they know it will mean more, and they thrive on proving people wrong.

I guess some people might see a championship as the ultimate goal, whatever way it comes. While others appreciate that not all championships are equal.

Not reading it. Dude never seemed to really love it here, in my opinion. The Jazz gave him plenty of reasons to be dissatisfied over the years. Most of us were pissed when he got drafted, for starters. Then, he played on a team whose locker room chemistry and on court chemistry were a disaster, on top of Deron just being a straight up prick. After Sloan quit and Deron got traded, they ****ed around with Tyrone Corbin for almost 3 years for some reason. Then, they finally decided they wanted to tank, and after having quite simply a not very good season, The Jazz went and let him find his max contract somewhere else. There were some hints in the structuring of that contract that suggested he actually wanted out, he wasn't just shopping.

I get it, I'd be pretty annoyed too.

But that was three years ago now. The Jazz have made no obvious missteps since. They got a great coach, they were able to add some really good talent, they set it up for the Jazz to go from really good to great.

We may never know, but I'm not sure there's anything the Jazz could've done. That's where I have a problem. If that is the case, then that's where the way PG and Dwight and any number of these stars did everyone a favor and everyone got something.

As it stands, the Jazz got dicked. Straight dicked. I suspect this was coming all along.

So back to this sappy sack of crap: I don't believe he's grateful, I think he's been bitter and is too petulant to grow past it and too big of a weenie to assert himself about it. I just caught the vibe that he was working on how to win and he the best player he could be, but those were motione he happened to be going through while on the Jazz. He didn't seem to embrace this team or his being a leader. I know Rudy is an unfair comparison, but Jesus. Take a second and compare how differently those two talk about the Jazz.

We may never know, but I just think Gordon didn't want to be here for most of those years, and he bolted the first chance he got.

Since I haven't read the piece and don't plan on it, I'm going to guess he won't admit any of this. He didn't carry himself as though he was grateful when he was here, so I'm not going to bother with his lip-service.

It sucks, he became a great player here. The Jazz can't and won't replace him. He'll be missed. It's a shame it played out like this.

But at the end of the day, at the end of THIS day - where he pulled EVERYONE's dicks around - I say "**** YOU" to Gordon Hayward.

I don't feel this way about him. I understand the comparison of how Rudy and Gordon are but I think that is just different personalities.

I saw Gordon give his all on the court, yeah he's competitive and it's probably his nature but I think he cared about the organization and helping his team.

An opportunity was opened up to him to play with one of his mentors in Brad Stevens and to also go to a different opportunity with more exposure.

I don't think this has anything to do with him not being committed to the Jazz while he was here.

In the end, I think it was Hayward's relationship with Stevens that was the deciding factor. Allowing CHA to cause him to receive the opt-out was obviously a factor but, as great as QS is, IMO DL's biggest mistake to date is not hiring BS (not to take away from everything QS has accomplished).

As long as Hayward hadn't made up his mind prior to the trade deadline & failed to communicate this to the FO, as much as it hurts, I can't fault him for doing what he feels is best for his career/family.

That being said...although this is obviously a significant setback, it is by no means a deathblow to our long-term ability to contend. It undoubtedly makes the road longer & more difficult, but we are still a talented roster with a franchise Center, young talent, & veteran leadership (+ a good coach/GM + all of our future 1st's).

The silver lining in this could be the freedom/flexibity DL will now have in roster construction moving forward, as he has had to operate in a manner most conducive to retaining Hayward over the last couple of off-seasons.

I was always somewhat skeptical of our ability to eventually add that necessary 3rd piece & DL now has the option to adjust his approach. My only concern is that due to the acquisition/re-signing of Rubio/Ingles + presence of JJ, the FO will opt to patchwork our current roster rather than attempting a semi/full rebuild (trading Gobert-which I think you now have to at least consider for a king's ransom).

With the right approach & some luck, this team still has a very bright future &, while the odds have decreased significantly, a shot at eventually contending...thanks to Gobert (whether we build or around him or trade him) + (maybe/hopefully) Mitchell, Exum, Hood to a lesser extent. It sucks but all is not lost.

Boston went 7 games against a team the Jazz would've taken in 5, and should've lost to a team the Jazz might've swept. They then got spanked harder than any team in the playoffs against a team that later looked a shade or two better than the Jazz did against the Warriors. They are softer than **** inside, and haven't addressed it. Behind star power, being able to protect the paint is the most important factor in creating a champion: teams just don't win if they can't get stops. Where are they getting that from? One of their draft picks, maybe, when Hayward is in his 30's? Also, have fun sharing the ball with IT.

I'm ticked Hayward is gone - and the way he handled today was a cluster **** at best. But in the end, can you blame him?

Yes, I can blame, criticize, mock and laugh at him.

This team and market handed him everything for 7 seasons, he barely did anything withit.

But he did manage to drag out the "Indecision" as long as possible, teasing the fans and management to please his sick self love, and making it difficult if not impossible for the jazz work out other plans.

I really think he was lukewarm about the Jazz after everything and he's been eyeing Boston for years. Would've been nice if he saved everyone a lot of time and resources and just informed the Jazz he wanted to go there. Would've gotten some high picks out of it.

I truly believe he wasn't considering it during his time here, especially during last season. I got the vibe with his play on the court and competitiveness that he wasn't just going through the motions. From my experience watching and playing the game I really think if he was checked out it would have shown. This is all objective of course.

Agree with everything except the consider trading Rudy part. No way in hell the Jazz should look to trade Gobert. Everyone else is fair game though. If we tank, we tank with Gobert. He's irreplaceable. Plus, he loves this team. This is now his team and he will rise to the occasion. He was always the leader of this team and this cements it.

I became a jazz fan in 1995, as I was 10 years old. A year later, as my face was full of acne, I experienced the joy of them being in finals. All my friends here in Germany were on Bulls/Jordan bandwagon and I was a kind of a outsider but it made me feel special. I loved the humble approach of Stockton and Malone and the Jazz franchise. I remember; while watching the last seconds of a finals game, I couldn't leave TV and missed my subway to school and even my mom was shaking her head my dad said "ok, I pay for the taxi". I remember the day NBA league pass was made available in Germany and I worked extra hours after University to afford it. I remember how I choose my classes at the latest hours possible, because I stood awake till morning to watch Jazz. In 2009, my company send me to Las Vegas for a convention, it was first time for me in the USA and even the convention last just for 5 days, all I hope was that jazz pass Lakers in playoffs so I can fly to Salt Lake and see a Jazz game, after the convention.(Jazz lost 4-1, so no Jazz game for me). 3 years later I was send to San Diego for training. This was my chance! 2 months in USA during NBA Season, so I should be able to see a Jazz game right? But my schedule was so packed and in these 2 months I just had a week of free time. Other europeans in the training flew to San Francisco, New York.., some even flew back to Europe! They couldn't understand why I was desperately trying to go to Salt Lake City. Jazz were on a road trip but I had a plan. Then there was an option. Jazz were playing in LA agains Lakers. I went to LA for a day and my dream came true. To this day it was my only Jazz Game. No-one even understand why I did not stayed there longer and didn't go to Hollywood, sightseeing etc. But I did not care. All I wanted from LA was seeing my Jazz, the team, that my dad agreed to pay for taxi, even though he wasn't sure if the people from the bank would knock on our door at the end of the month. All I want to say; Jazz will, of course loose players and sign other players. I will cheer for those, who are there(I cheered for Raul Lopez!) If Hayward wants to leave, its ok. I identify my self with Jazz, it is a part of me, it is part of my growing up. I feel Hayward disrespected the Jazz with the way he left and I will boo him if he plays against us,even through a monitor and just by myself. GO JAZZ! (sorry for my bad English)
