I do not understand Hayward's role in the offense.

He comes out yesterday, scores 5 points rather quickly, then he stopped getting touches.

Previous game they even noted 9 possessions IN A ROW where he did not even touch the ball.

His only touches is the 2nd half were flip outs for a quick jumper. He shot quite average/poor yesterday after his quick start. When someone starts quick, keep feeding them. Basketball 101.


He seems very effective when he is actually part of the play/offense, dribbles it to the center lane driving to the hoop, then a dish or quick 8 footer.

Since we are out of it, I would like to see more plays run thru him just to see how it goes.

I think he can develop to be a great creator/assist person who can hopefully make half his shots if they leave him alone........
 
The Jazz haven't used solid 2-guards for other than spot-up shooters since Horny retired. They really need to incorporate this into the game plan. Hayward has shown some solid ability, but his role is just too small. Maybe more time at the 3 or with the other rooks would help.

maybe the Jazz should hire a coach that remembers how the plays were run when Horny was around..................

At this point, it's Yes to all things Hayward. I'm envisioning pairing him with a speed-kills PG that can break down his man and dish to Hayward with some space. He's already showing signs of developing the kind of game where once he catches the ball on the perimeter and his man defensively compromised, then he is going to hurt you in some way, whether that be an assist or points. I'm pretty stoked, actually.
 
I think this should be our starting line up for the remaining games:

C - Jefferson
PF - Favors
SF - Milsapp
SG - Hayward
PG - Watson (no choice)

And see how it goes!

We know Miles could start and play very well, now we want to see whether 1) Milsapp can play SF; and 2) Hayward can develop his game before the season ends; and 3) Favors can develop his game also.

C'mon Ty - give it a whril!

Personally I think we should have a lineup of watson hayward sap favors and fes. We need to see how effective sap is at sf, and whether he should lose weight and work on speed this offseason OR just stick to being an undersized pf for the rest of his nba career. we also need to consider whether fes is worth signing again, and I doubt hell ever have a better opportunity to showcase his skill during the season. Hayward and favors just need minutes period im sure we all agree. As far as evans goes we know his strngths and weaknesses fairly well. Maybe sign the Weave to another 10 day, and see how he plays pg/sg??

Just hoping for a whole lot of experimentation these last few days.

What are you talking about? Hayward touched the ball on about 75% of the possessions. He even brought the ball up a few times. This 'drive to the middle' thing you're talking about happened about 3 times (more like dribble to the top of the key). But he had the ball out on the perimeter about 15 times. He mostly did what he was supposed to do -- throw it into the post. The rest of the time he ran his cuts under the backboard like he was supposed to.

Hayward's problem is not the offense. It's Hayward. There's nothing wrong with him. He's like any rookie who is still figuring out where to get his shots. But at the moment, he's not great at getting himself space either on his cuts or off the dribble. He's shooting the shots that come to him like the corner 3. I was actually overjoyed to see him take those 2 jumpshots off the dribble. He needs to be more aggressive. But his development will come when he learns to create space for himself and/or drive which he's not particularly great at right now.
