What's new

Hayward

If they send him to the D-league they can run the normal plays and call his number every time. Get him 20 shots per night. Then he'll be more crisp when he comes back.

I don't believe they run the plays, they may try but I doubt it's even very close. It's more beneficial to see how the plays are supposed to be run instead of getting into bad habits against bad defender's with a league full of ball hogs. He won't learn the correct way to run the plays, he won't learn how to be a defender at all, and it is more beneficial to be around some of the players he will eventually play against and with if he stays here.

They can't send the rookie to the Flash.
He dunked the ball in a game with his left hand, very Boozeresque.
He must be ready for the rest of the Jazz offense after that.

They can't send Hayward to the D League. D Leaguers can't star in their very own Subway commercials. Now if it was a septic tank service commercial then by all means send him down.

As much as I think it will hurt Hayward's confidence to send him down to the D-League, it might be the best option if he isn't going to be getting any minutes. I don't see how he is going to improve unless he gets more than 4-5 minutes every other game.

And how will he improve playing against scrubs and not learning the system? I can see when they go on their X-mas road trip leaving him here to play for the flash and getting some minutes. They don't really practice on that stretch anyway, but right now they have a ton of games at home lots of practice time chances and he will learn more watching the system being ran than watching a bunch of ball hogs out for personal glory in the D-League.

Hayward's problem isn't necessarily knowing the system or not, it's that he's a spazz that sucks. He needs game-time to find anything resembling a rhythm and confidence. Right now, he has neither of those.

Maybe. And he should definitely find a rhythm and confidence playing against the no defense scrubs in the D-league. I don't know, I'm not a fan of the D-league but can see limited use in this case where he needs to find his shot and needs to learn to relax a little on the court. I'd still wait until the Xmas road trip to send him down though. If rhythm and confidence is what he needs he should only go there for a limited stretch anyway.
