People bashing the casting for that crappy movie need to remember the premise.

Superman comes back to earth years after he jackpotted with Lois Lane only to run away and leave her to raise his child. He didn't have the guts to tell her why or where he was going and for how long. She's since moved on yet he still somehow believes that he can move in? After cutting and running? Is this a movie about superman or about a pro athlete?
Lex Luther comes back to.... Uhh.... Create a new continent.... *yikes*
And superman saves the day by lifting the new continent off the planet.

Good acting can save a poor story and vice versa. Sadly, this movie had neither.

I don't think it was called for the love of the Gods, I think it was Clash of the Titans, and from what I hear it wasn't very good.
