What's new

Here is my Jazz draft plan.

Let's say that the Cavs do take Irving @ #1. Minnesota, who really is in dire need of a center to place next to Kevin Love, decides to draft Kanter @ #2. This would leave the Jazz with a choice between Williams and Knight. I would guess that we take Williams @ #3. Now, here comes the twist: If the Jazz really want Jimmer or Kemba Walker (assuming that Knight is off the board by #12) and they don't think that either of them will be available @ #12, they then trade the #12 pick and next year's Golden State pick to move up to get one of them. I know people will not want to trade next year's pick, but there is some downside to it. The pick is top 8 protected, which would not be the best scenario. Also, what if Golden State makes the playoffs next year? The pick would be utterly useless then. Might as well trade it for value now.

the jazz have been working out a number of guys that are expected to go late in the first round. I think its more likely they trade back...

I opened this thinking it would be primarily about Jimmer. Glad I wasn't disappointed.

I think Jimmer would be gone to Sacramento @ #7.. (apparently the Maloofs really pushed for Jimmer to work out with them)

So no, I wouldn't trade #12 and next year's pick for Kemba..

Good observation. Of course they also just need bodies to work out against the upper tier players. And the fringe 1st-rounders are more than willing to get added exposure. Create some buzz with a few good workouts. solidify that 1st-round status and get a guaranteed deal.

I'm sure KOC has been working all the angles - up, down, sideways, trading picks, players, etc. But we all know his MO; we likely won't hear even a rumor unless/until a deal goes down. Since he's been here, only the aborted AK trade has been leaked, and he was mad as heck about that one.

I think the OP is suggesting that you trade the #12 & GS's pick to Sacramento for Jimmer.

If Kings are willing to do that? I would do it.

I doubt they would though...

The Kings seems to have that "I don't care what people think - we'll pick the guy we like"

- Tyreke: questionable jump shot
- Counsins: questionable attitude
