Herro Rumors

If the Heat ain't trying to maximize Jimmy's window then I'd def consider moving him before shelling out $52M to a 36 yo in a couple years. Retool around Bam/Herro/the assets they get from the Jimmy trade/all the FAs they can sign.

Portland has much more to lose from not dealing Dame than Miami has to gain from acquiring Dame imo.

Miami has no reason to rush into anything. They will always have a position of power and can afford to be patient.

Of course there will be a period were the Heat aren't great and may struggle for a few years, but that's all the more reason to not spend a ton of future assets for a guy they don't have to have. It's a near guarantee they will attract another star at some point in the not to distant future.

And y'all can argue with me all you want, but that's the position they are taking and it will probably work unless someone goes crazy like Cleveland did. And if it doesn't work it's not really a big deal in the grand scheme of the Heats future.
But if the offer is Herro+1-2 picks+1-2 of Jovic/JJJ then a team does not have to get crazy. Portland is under no obligation to go back to Miami and ask them to beat the offer. What does holding onto the extra pick do for the Heat? Maybe Portland wants them to do more than that which requires some maneuvering. I don't think they will have an opportunity that is better than this as far as winning a title for the next 3-4 years.

Didn't say rush it... said they should consider it. If you are "always" in a position of power... there are still things you can do to increase that power. Clearing 50M+ from the books and getting some younger players may be what helps them lure the next BIG fish.

2 picks, 2 swaps, 2 prospects... and whatever Herro gets em (Ayton?) is about the most Heat can offer. If they pass on putting that on the table I think Porty can get 90% of that offer from Toronto or Philly. I think Miami has a 2 year window with Dame/Jimmy if they can swing a deal... if not I think this year becomes a meh year and they pray that Giannis asks out and Milwaukee settles for their best offer.

Pat Riley is 78 years old… that’s all… that’s the post

Latest news is we are willing to trade players and a pick for Herro. That’s what we should be looking at. THT + KO + first would be perfect to me. Looking at our salary cap we have to include two of THT/KO/Sexton to make any deal work.

The real upside for me in giving up Sexton + THT straight up for Herro would be clearing up space at our guard rotation for Keyonte George, and that would still banking on Herro's development and a salary cap expending big so that we could get the value of that contract to go up so that it has value in future trade scenarios.

The notion of giving a first for a player that's nearly a JC copy with a better 3 point shot (which is the direction I see his actual upside, looking to form his game through shooting around the catch, on motion, coming off screens, as a Desmond Bane, Klay, Buddy Hield, Bogdanovic type sniper/scorer, not as an actual playmaker/ballhandler), but at a worse iso capacity, yet making 120/4 guaranteed is ludicrous (negative contract simply put), maddening sick to me.

And If we're really looking to compete this year (which I guess wouldn't be only to convey our 2024 pick to OKC at a perceived weaker draft, but also to impress Markkanen to sign a new contract, as showing a franchise that should be back to contention while he's still in his prime, not one that should start to be actually good only in 4 years time) without a clear established playmaker, and our forward/center rotation including Collins, Kessler and yet to be established players, you're really looking to keep Olynyk at least for this season for both his passing, shooting and veteran savviness.

And they said they weren't including KO, so Sexton gone
