Hollinger gives ROY to Jazz

Rookie of the Year (announcer): Matt Harpring, Jazz
Harpring, who played for the Jazz for seven seasons, was a revelation in his new career behind the mike, offering clear, concise explanations and shunning the rah-rah stuff that affects too many local-market announcers. Harpring showed a rare ability to point out the home team's mistakes without sounding critical, and because he played in this system he could point out exactly when and where the mistakes were being made.
About the only downside for Utah fans is that Harpring has been so good, it may not be long before the national broadcasters pluck him away.

Really, how ridiculous does this analysis sound? Pretty sure he got a Jazz feed and heard all their RoY jokes and backwards "analyzed it". Hollinger for the win!

Yeah, Harpring isn't so great.. but then I listen to other team's broadcasts... and I feel a little lucky.

I welcome every game done by Ron Boone. Usually I don't even notice for a couple quarters until I start asking myself "why am I not flying into an uncontrollable rage as per usual?" Then I realize what's different.

At least when Harpring talks, it is relevant to what is currently going on in the game. Boone is horrible with this.

I second this. I find watching the game more enjoyable with Boone doing the color.

Harpring is pretty bad, but try listening to the Warriors' announcers. Harpring is Emmy worthy compared to these clowns.

Did you guys know that Matt Harpring used to play Football?

Also, I'm sure none of you have heard this from Matt, but CJ's inconsistent and Hayward's shot is that one coming off the curl...

Booner is really, really bad. I think Boler is giving Harpring bad advice about trying to sound all announcer-ish when he does his commercials. That not him, and it's not his job. He's not there for his voice but for his experience and insight.

Yeah Harpring is too much of
Bollers yes man for them to be too compelling. Boone at least can
sometimes be a good foil for Boller but when he gets excited he's just to giddy
for me. So take your pick.

I have never once seen an NBA player with their pants on the ground.
I don't blame you for not looking, but the sight is all too common:

The head has been removed to protect the guilty.

Maybe you meant on the court. In that case, I haven't either. It's not like this is soccer:
