I don't believe the Clips have been hurt by Paul sitting out. With the two back ups they have and the level they have played at it may have just minimized the confusion and trauma of sitting two guys who everyone can see belongs on the court.

Just finished what for me was an exhaustive statistical analysis of all the contenders in the west. I came up with the Jazz finishing in the 5 slot. This is IF the Jazz can refrain from going in the toilet on the road, we all know that will be the litmus test for these Jazz. What may have been missed is the Clips have actually played one less road game than the Jazz. They also have a lot to prove. They are not a good rebounding team with little depth ( Lakers are holding together only because of their board game and have even less depth). Both teams will ultimately fail in my opinion. Best case scenario would be the #3 playoff position, i don't see any way they fall below #9 in the west.
One more conclusion i reached is the MVP should have the name "Durant" on it. Only Durant downside is he and Westbrook account for almost half of Ok. Citys turnovers which is a large number.
Another (conclusion) is the Lakers are really hurting. The only thing they do well is rebound. They have Kobe" and two sidekicks and the rest is a d-league team.

It looks totally alright. You have 8 guaranteed spots hence you have 800% to distribute among all contenders.

I wish Utah was in the East--we'd be elite. I like our odds, but it's going to be really tough. Portland is going to turn it on, surely. Really, our best shot is a team like the Clippers, Memphis, or Lakers falling out.

Just read qman's link to Hollinger. Had to take a little nap after working on my analyses. His was of course more computerized than mine. But i was surprised to see that his projections were almost exactly like mine with one notable difference. I have the Lakers out of the play-offs and Houston in 8th spot. I believe the Lakers as they are now constituted are a deeply flawed team. It's there in the numbers for anyone who cares to look. A thirty pt/game scorer, two guys around 15 per and ........ not much else. The Clippers who at seasons start had me believing in them big time also could slip to borderline on the playoff question. Thunder and the (yeech) Nuggets appear to be the West's two best teams. Do you realize that Gallineri (sp?) is their leading scorer (17 something) and Nene is not statistically impressive at all. They end up looking like a solid team with a real shot.
