What's new

Hood in January

Hood's up n down game reminds me of Hayward's first few years.

(Spycalt, quick, tag this to bump in three years)

Love Rodney Hood and his play as of late is showing why. He is only improving and he already has the shot, so the savvy will only get better as his career progresses.

This is especially impressive considering how awful he was to start the season.

Good on Quin for letting him shoot his way through it. I'd have benched him in favor of Burks a long time ago and probably stunted his growth this year.

Snyder deserves a lot of flack for some of the lineups and offensive woes, but he should also get credit for keeping them in the playoff hunt despite the injuries and developing the hell out of Neto, Hood and Lyles.

Hood now at 18.4 ppg in January an Hayward is at 22 ppg in January.

Is there a better starting wing combination in the NBA in terms of scoring right now?

Middleton and Giannis have to be the only two to come close. They are at 22 and 16.2 in January, respectively.

Really good point, never even considered that. It's actually kind of crazy how much legitimate PG play could improve this team wins wise.

When I saw him shooting in warm ups at the jazz scrimmage after we drafted him I was certain he would be deadly from outside. Beautiful shot.

The fact that he can put it on the floor, hit the midrange shot, and pass is all just icing on the cake.

Studly

Gallinari and Barton have been awesome in Denver but I guess Barton doesn't start..

Just curious, but how does Hood compare to Harden, PG, and Thompson in their second years as a pro?

Per 100 possessions:

Hood: 24.3 points - 5.6 rebounds - 4.5 assists - 41.8% FG - 36.5% 3PT - 88.1% FT
Harden: 23.6 points - 6.0 rebounds - 4.2 assists - 43.6% FG - 34.9% 3PT - 84.3% FT
George: 21.6 points - 10.0 rebounds - 4.3 assists - 44.0% FG - 38.5% 3PT - 80.2% FT
Thompson: 23.5 points - 5.3 rebounds - 3.2 assists - 42.2% FG - 40.1% 3PT - 84.1% FT

I think we all saw it and hoped, but then we remembered C.J. Miles and that he had a beautiful shot that made us think he would be deadly from outside.

I know it's not a one to one comparison, but just the memory of Miles makes me hold back a bit.

I'm beyond that now for the most part. I think he's proven he can do some nice things fairly consistently.

Yes, good point. Cj miles was fantastic on paper. Great looking shot, good size, athletic... yet horrible

His fg/3 point % are a little low but he's also had some abysmal stretches. If he continues on his torrid pace for another couple weeks, these will go up some and be really, really impressive.

How does his age compare to these guy's ages in their second years?
