Hoods struggles

Been thinking about this for a couple days. Why has this year been so tough for him?? I'm thinking it's because Hill has replaced him as Haywards sidekick.

It's affected his aggressiveness and his shooting.

What does he need to do to get his game back?

I think he just needs some solid time without nagging injuries and recovery. He is a rhythm player, and that makes it tough to deal with stuff that takes you out of your rhythm. Still a great side-kick to Hayward with his playmaking skills and handles. Hayward light. Remember, Hay was pretty streaky his first few years, as we all noted that his game went the way of his wavering confidence. Now he steps beyond that. I think Hood could follow a very similar trajectory.

Hope so. A big part of Haywards inconsistencies in his early years was his strength at the rim, which he obviously solved. Hood has never attacked the basket like that so im not sure they are apples to apples. Part of me thinks he will never get the "solid time without injuries" because there's always something going on with him.

One positive his streakiness might allows us to hold onto him with a smaller contract. A team might be afraid to bite the bullet on a streaky injury prone guy. Then we balance beam the **** of him and we got Steph Curry on the cheap

"using your expiring assets to add depth to the squad rocks the boat too violently and may destroy our delicately balanced beamed cakk bakk" - me

Simple answer Hood=CJ.... Long answer. Hood is now a decent player on a good team. And his role has changed a bit. Its time for Hood to except that he is just a role player. Joe I. is doing great because he knows his role. But players like alec and hood arnt sure where they fit. And IDK if yall have ever played on a team where you didn't know where you fit it but it hurts your confidence.

Of course it's in-part because of Hill..

His FGA's are down, minutes down, scoring down, assists are down..

The real issue for Utah is even if he keeps playing like this it's not going to result in any sort of discount next summer when it's time for a new contract. Some other team is likely to run the bid up near the max and sell him on being 2nd gun. Utah will then match and skyrocket over the cap.

He'll be months away from turning 26 and likely looking to secure as big a deal as possible.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of market there is for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope this offseason, should set a bit of precedent.

Hood will likely always be a little inconsistent. He doesn't get to the free throw line and doesn't get many easy looks. Will create some variance.

In addition to supplementing your scoring on off nights... getting to the free throw line will also help a cold shooter get in a rhythm. My only worry with Hood is that he will get paid more than he is worth on his next deal. Not many guys on a rookie deal are playing winning basketball on a good playoff team right now... appreciate him for what he is.

**** y'all all talkin bout? Dude pulls up like a boss on high outside screens. Hood won us more then one game this year.

He is scouted much more now. The league knows his tendencies and has adjusted. He will need to add more to his game if he wants to become more consistent.

We need him to be solid 4/7 games. That's it really. More often than not. Gobert and Hayward are damn consistent. I trust Hill and Ingles. We need Hood to be playing well more often than not. He does that, I think we win in the first round. He doesn't and I'm not so sure.

The problem with hood is he can't attack the basket. When he does he shies away from contact.

Injuries can cause this but he needs to get stronger.

Free throw line is a great way, like was mentioned earlier, to get into a rhythm.

Teams are chasing him off the free throw line and forcing him right.

I dont think it has much to do with his strength, it's just the natural way he plays.

Yeah, man. You're right. He's definitely a rhythm player. Good post, sir.
