Summer before my senior year I took an internship to get away from the farm, see something new. Came home every weekend cause I didn't know anybody where I was at and I didn't like it there. So at the end of the summer I'm all packed up ready to go, went to a coffee shop on my way out of town bc I was waiting for a friend to get done with work, he wanted me to take his mattress back to school for him cause I had a pickup. Anyways, I'm getting coffee, wearing a shirt with the name of the company I interned for. Pretty girl comes up to me, asks me about the shirt, turns out her dad works for the same company. We talk for a while, exchange numbers, and I head home. We text the whole day, and talked every single day from then til the day we got married. It's almost been a year, little girl on the way, and I've never been so happy in my life. She's perfect for me.

My wife was one of the nurses who cared for my mother after she was admitted to the hospital with a stroke. They never spoke; my mother was unconscious within just a few hours of being rushed to the ER. We spoke off and on and struck up a friendship. Funniest part was when two of my sisters and I were speaking with her and then my sisters withdrew from the room and left just the two of us chatting (they later admitted it was intentional and saw a relationship coming way before I did). Coincidentally my wife flew to SLC for Thanksgiving and returned on the flight with another of my sisters (I have 3).

It was very strange inviting her to my mother's funeral. In fact, she commented that she must have been very desperate to resort to going to funerals to pick guys up.

Beautiful story...wish it could have lasted.

I don't want to pry-- but hearing the news of the two of you distancing yourselves makes me wish that it is ultimately for the best for both of you. And your daughter(s).

We just drifted apart; mostly my fault, I guess. Nothing dramatic like abuse or cheating. We just have one daughter. Fortunately we're on good terms. Probably best for both of us, but separation/divorce is always hard on children. Trying to minimize it by me moving up to northern CA to be close to my daughter. Thanks for asking.

And my advice to any of you in relationships is to keep investing in each other. In my case, I think both of us were trying to be great parents, but we neglected each other. And that's easy to do when you have children.

I've been with many "cute" or "hot" girls here around town, they're all way too into what they have going on. Which in my mind is absolute garbage. They're all too worried about what others think about them and don't take time to enjoy they relationships they have with people around them. I think our culture is to blame really, but I find it hard to be with these type of girls.

That's why I'm planing on chasing this girl that's all about her yoga, she seems a lot more centered and caring in the way she lives. I gotta say I've got a spiritual side and it's attractive to see a girl with the same interests and open to people of all cultures and ages. That shows a kind of maturity that turns me on. It actually lifts my spirit being around this type of person. I guess since I'm not religious, It feels nice to have some sort of spiritual time outs .

I waited too long to text her, she said to let her know when I come up to see a Jazz game because she had the season tickets. I never texted her for about a couple of weeks then I did send one and got no reply. I'm guessing she found some meat up there she's interested in. Oh well it's not like I got invested or my hopes up.

I feel like this was party of a major issue with the one i just took an exit door to as well. Although I'm sure both our situations and relationships were different in other ways.
I guess I know now for a shot at my next one, I guess that's why they say with age comes wisdom. You just don't know exactly what someones going through until you experience it.
Although I am so distraught over the break-up, being 27 with more then a few breakups, I'm mature enough to know my life won't end and how to be happy on my own, etc. Not to rant, cry, or bitch about the other but to just let it end and move on.

Haha.. good on you bro. I feel like you, me and Dong2ha are of similar age and similar stage in our lives with similar personality as well kinda easy going, not too dominant, looking for genuine girls...etc... would be interesting to see in a few years where 3 of us ended up.

it's not just Mormons who think that coffee is a drug (or harmful in some demonstrable way). Coffee shops haven't always been bastions of purity.

First met my wife thru her family. My sister is married to her brother. Our extended families did a joint thanks giving one year and that's when I first really met her. She was married at the time but I'd have gotten it on right on the kitchen table if she'd let me. Instant attraction.

But she was married so I left well enough alone. After a year or two she got divorced (not due to me, we were not even talking). Well one day my sister and her brother are moving and need help moving. So I show up to help them and so does she and her ex. Well I figure they are exes now so she is fair game. So I start flirting like crazy and she is going for it, hard. Her ex is getting pissed but the guy is a gremlin looking tool that is like 5-5. What is he going to do? So I continue flirting. After the move is done I head home and throw out a message to her about needing to go get drunk in Vegas and she says why wait to drink? She invites me over to her apt. My sister found out and called me on my way down and made me promise not to kiss her. So I worked it to where my current wife kissed me first. We had a great night but nothing beyond making out. We just clicked. Since that night we have spent maybe 5 nights apart. That was the very end of May 2012. She moved in in July 2012 and we married in October 2012. Shotgun of course.
