The FA period is a scapegoat right now instead of the real issue at hand.
I agree with Cy, the real issue is the Jazz need a new coach.
Sorry, wrong week, I meant the real issue at hand is the Jazz can't shoot.
Uh, I might be confused, the real issue at hand is Lindsey can't draft. No,no, I mean the Jazz are too young.
Or was it the turnovers? Hayward is not a # 1 option? Injuries? The Stampede is too far from Salt lake?
Ah crap, I give up. What is the real issue at hand?
Most all teams in the league didn't get several players in free agency. Coolseveral players

The Jazz offense doesnt generate enough easy baskets, specifically transition points.

2nd to last this year with 9.2 fastbreak points per game (which seems high).

Last year we were at 12.2 point, which isn't great, but it was good for 17th in the NBA.
So what changed between those two years? We basically had the same team. Alec was out for about the same number of games and I don't think Exum had that big of an impact in our transition game (though I might be wrong).
*Turnovers are a close 2nd though. If you are going to be a half-court centric team based on defense, you can't give away possessions*
I really think these problems would be solved by just getting a starting PG. Hopefully Exum can do this, but I will be surprised if he is ready to be our PG savior next year.
There weren't any starting PGs available last year IIRC. I advocated for Lin, but he isn't a game changer in a starting role (and we can sign him this year too as I doubt he takes his player option).Wait so the FA period is a stupid scape goat but most of our problems relate to getting a starting point guard? Is there a way a team could acquire such a player without drafting or trading for said player?
Before you freak out and neg I'm kidding on the pg front. The timing of the Exum injury made it tough to acquire a PF in free agency.
The Sitting out of free agency exacerbated the injury issues we had. If we had signed a guy like Casspi or got Dudley they can both play 3 or 4 and would have been upgrades over ingles, Booker (when he was struggling) and CJ. You will have injuries... Every team does. Depth and players who cover multiple positions protect against that and many of those types of players were available.

Also if we were going to give up on Trey so quick and Neto was supposed to play d league and be third pg... Why not go get a Lin or find another similar player?
Lin, Joseph, and Beverly were available. Joseph and Beverly may not have wanted to come here though... I'm sure Bev could have been persuaded by a few extra dollars though. There weren't any starting PGs available last year IIRC.
