How Does The Year Of The Cakk Taste Now?

Can a team be young and experienced?
I keep hearing game announcers talk about thejazz being one of the youngest teams in the league. Are they wrong?

Do the young players with experience (favors and hayward) have a lot of experience in important games?

I'm just sick of the excuses man. We had a great chance. We blew it. It sucks.

I was on the Joseph train too.

We should have been in on Beverly... guy signed for 4 years $23M with the final year unguaranteed. I was repping him before FA because I thought he'd get much more than that. If we had offered him 4 years at $33 M with final year unguaranteed would that have been a crazy overpay. Worst case scenario is he uses our offer as leverage against Houston.

I remember Locke talking about him as a trade target at the dealine but thought it would cost at least our first round pick... Jebus man Jebus!

yeah, I've started at least 2 threads about Beverly.

Basically I've supported anyone remotely available who can come in and lead our perimeter defense for stretches. We haven't had that guy since Matthews.

The cakk tastes like disappointment. When last season ended I think everyone here was extremely pumped for this current season. Injuries hurt us bad but at the same point we had chances to make the playoffs. That part is what disappoints me. The Clips and Mavs games really hurt.

We are a young team, there is no way around it. Even though Favors and Hayward are in their 6th season we are still young. And most importantly we are young/inexperienced when it comes to BIG/MUST WIN games. Our guys have never really been in games like that before.

One thing that makes me feel better is listening to Snyders post game after the Dallas game. He stood up for our guys and you could literally see the frustration and hurt in his eyes. That loss hurt(as it should). It really reassured me that we got a great coach who understands this team

That's why the plan is failing. You can't go from one side of the spectrum (vets getting almost all the minutes) to the other (only young guys getting most of them). I think balance in this matter is important. Adding players that have been in the league for a while could add a lot to this team in terms of how to approach certain clutch situations. More of a mentality thing than anything.

I do not know how many of you have actually baked a cake but it can actually be more complicated than you think. DL cannot go into the store and pick a cake mix, he is baking this from scratch. In this situation, he had fresh (young) ingredients that had the makings of a very delicious cake. It was just about all mixed and ready to put in the oven but one of the key ingredients unexpectedly spoiled and could not be used. By this time the store was closed and there were no decent ingredients were available so he just had to make do with what he had in the pantry. These ingredients were not nearly as delicious as the original ingredients but he hoped that it would not ruin the whole cake. DL was deeply disappointed but surprisingly, as the cake baked it began to smell delicious none the less. Unfortunately half way through the baking process, someone came stomping through the kitchen causing the cake to fall flat developing a gaping hole in the center of the cake. As the timer was about to go off it appeared that there was going to be some frosting for the cake, in fact DL could all but taste that frosting. Unfortunately that frosting did not belong to him and it was taken away at the last second and all he was left with was a cake which tasted better than could really be expected given all of the bad luck.

This season without Exum sucked. We now know that Hayward, Favors, Gobert, and Burks have all reached their ceiling. Aside from Exum, Hood shows the most promise followed by Lyles if he becomes money from 3 point land.

Basically we should all be on our knees praying that Exum's injury didn't make him lose his athleticism (speed in particular) and that he miraculously plays like a stud on the offensive end.

I would say no one on our team has reached his ceiling. How do you figure that?

Gone:

Burke
Withey
Johnson
Booker
Pleiss

That leaves us five roster spots to fill. We have four picks in this draft, but it's likely we'd take an international or package a couple to move up.

Exum replaces Burke.
Draft pick replaces Johnson.
Booker and withey come back.
Pleiss replaced by cardboard cutout.

We are set.

Great post

After Gobert, Hood and Lyles I am pretty excited to see what DL and Snyder can do with Exum and another mid first pick.
