I agree with you, there are some items here that I haven't heard before.

I think it was a case of legal over-caution, the cops knew he did it, so did the attorneys who were making the case. But they did not want to risk having to let him slip out because of any question a judge or jury might think gave reasonable doubt.

That over-caution cost the kids their lives.

I agree, the worst thing would have been him getting a not guilty verdict. Plus nobody could have really known that he would possibility kill his kids. But I still think he should have been followed constantly after his wife's disappearance. The fact the he drove 800 miles in a rented car just days after her disappearance and the cops have no idea where he went is inexcusable. He should have been watched like a hawk.

Also went ever happened to interrogation? They should of had a enough evidence to grill his *** for hours and hours at the police station.

This isn't new info... If you can successfully make a person disappear without any traces of them or anyone seeing then you've got a good shot at getting away with murder. Even with a cover story as ridiculous as Josh Powell's.

Just because you ask questions does not mean he is required to answer them. Also he would have had an attorney present to consult him not to answer. They were not going to get a confession.

I understand that. But his statement was so stupid I had to say something.
 
Not that I want to help anyone get away with anything, but if the police are talking to you and it's obvious they suspect you did something don't try to talk your way out of it, just say "I want to speak to an attorney," and stop answering questions. All upside, no downside.

Not only is the father of Josh a huge creep, but it looks like the brother was involved as well.

Michael Powell, an ardent supporter of Josh Powell, killed himself Feb. 11 by leaping from a parking garage in Minneapolis.
He was interviewed numerous times last year after investigators determined he left his car at an Oregon junk yard weeks after Susan's disappearance -- a fact police didn't learn until nearly two years later. Officials said he offered evasive answers about why he got rid of the car and how he had used it in the weeks after her disappearance.
His suicide left investigators without any person of interest in the case. While authorities believe the brothers were responsible for Susan Powell's disappearance, they said repeatedly Monday that they never had enough evidence to bring charges -- an assertion that has been questioned in the past by legal experts as well as law enforcement in Washington state.

When will people ever start to exercise better judgment?

Travis Alexander didn't deserve to die... However... He used ridiculous judgment. If you didn't want a real relationship with Arias, why keep having her come over for booty calls? If you really thought she was a crazy stalker jealous girl, why invite her over late at night for a sex romp? If you really thought she was "evil" and "unstable" why put yourself in a completely helpless position in your own shower?

This whole Powell situation is one bad call after another.

Steven Powell has admitted to being addicted to porn and having an obsession with kiddies before he even hit puberty. You mean to tell me that the person who procreated with him to spawn Josh Powell and that messed up family didn't know about any of that? There weren't any red flags during their courtship? During the early marriage?

Susan, what the hell were you thinking? For someone who was supposedly "active" in the Mormon faith, was there anything in Josh which resembled a responsible and faithful priesthood holder? In your entire courtship with Josh, did you really not see anything "weird" about him? So he "suddenly" out of "no where" became a jackass? In your early marriage before you had those 2 kids, you really didn't see any red flags? Was Susan suffering from incredibly low self esteem and allowed Josh to take advantage of her?

These folks all use incredibly poor judgment to put themselves in vulnerable positions to crazy and evil people. They play with fire and then we all act surprised when they get burned? You date or marry an unstable person and the question doesn't become IF they lash out but WHEN.

I have a family on my street. Completely jacked up. The parents abused the kids, the kids have since abused others, and no one in the entire family progresses. They live off welfare, looking up more kiddie porn and playing WOW. One of the kids (who is probably in his mid 30s now) has been arrested for just about anything you can imagine. Sex crimes, drugs, violence, theft, etc... Well, he began dating this one girl. He impregnated her. And now she's pissed that he doesn't have a job and won't pay child support. What the hell were you thinking? I get it I get it, she herself was probably trailer trash... But what were you expecting when you sleep with a dude who has spent more time in prison than Birdman in tattoo parlors.

Susan? Why would you ever date such a narcissistic jackass like Josh Powell? What about his family was attractive? They all seem like complete losers. She should have gone to the local singles ward and dated anyone else. Men aren't your personal projects. Date men who are already fine gentlemen and treat you like you deserve to be treated.

Well, psychopaths are known for their deception so the victim's ability to make a knowledge based judgement would be compromised.

Innocent mormony girls are prime pickings for these type of creeps to pretend to be all churchy while living secret massage parlor lives.

Even if they picked up on signs of their gf/husband being off they wouldn't necessarily be willing to believe that they were capable of murder.

What are the odds of a chick you used as your free whore being willing to slit your throat and shoot you in the shower? I'd think the stats are pretty low for that.

The odds of a husband murdering a wife are considerably higher. There probably were plenty of signs of creepiness in the Powell and Hacking situations.
