What will the W/L record be for the Jazz this year?

Don't forget, the season is going to be 66 games!

5-10 games under .500. It will be a tough year. Favors and Hayward are still too young to have a huge impact. Jefferson, Sap, and Harris- we know that they are going to make us respectable but at the same time its hard to win in the NBA without a bonafied star. Losing AK's size and defense will also be noticeable.

35-31. Jazz lost a lot of games late last year because Jefferson and Millsap were burned out down the stretch. If Okur can come back healthy (which I hear he already has) and with the addition of 10-15 minutes a night from Kanter, Jazz will have plenty of front court depth to be competitive.

They desparately need another 2/3 though. Someone who can give them 18-22 solid minutes a night and can stretch the defense. Bell and Miles are just too mediocre most nights.

I know that I have said this before but I'm ok with a bad record as long as the young players get time to learn and grow on the court and not just in practice.

****. I was borderline and voted 30-39 forgetting that it's a shortened season. I believe 20-29 and that we'll finish somewhere around 27-39 if I had to guess.

The Jazz are actually a fairly veteran team with Jefferson, Millsap, Miles and Harris. Plus Favors and Hayward should improve. I think we're at least a .500 team. Playing Favors and Kanter at PF over Millsap should solve the rebounding problem, and Hayward's shooting consistency and passing should help. The big question is actually whether Devin Harris can run this team and stay healthy, and whether Corbin can coach effectively. But with Jefferson, Favors and Kanter, we have a ton of post scoring and should get our share of rebounds. We'll have to see if the Millsap at SF experiment has any legs and if Jeremy Evans has any game outside of 3 feet from the hoop. I'm hoping Alec Burks can have a Wesley Matthews-like impact as a rookie.

I still see us being on par with teams like Portland in the 6 - 9-seed range in the west.

1 OKC
2 LAL
3 DAL
4 MEM
5 DEN
6 NO (depends on what happens with Chris Paul)
7 POR
8 SAS/UTA
9 UTA/SAS
10 HOU (they're a mess)
11 - 13 GS, LAC, PHX

I would be estatic if we approached .500.

I think the abbreviated training camp/preseason will really hurt this team at the start of the season. IMO 2011-12 is more about establishing some sort of identity and figuring out what type of team we can become rather than win totals.

It would be nice to stay in contention for a playoff spot through March/early April - just to keep these guys hungry as a collective unit rather than individual players.

I really have no clue. The only thing that would bum me out is watching Favors and Kanter languish on the bench behind BIG AL and Memo, Burks making way for Bell to play, and... well, I'm not sure how Hayward doesn't play. But you get the idea.

Otherwise, win, lose, hell yeah.

I hate to be that guy, but we should play our youngsters big time this season and not worry about wins. If we only win 20 something games, we get a high draft pick in a very strong draft and the vets have less time to suffer in a shortened season. More experience for our youth movement and a high draft pick sounds great to me.

You think Denver is going to be 5th seed without Chandler, Smith, or Martin?

This is more an indictment of everyone else than an endorsement for Denver. The big question for them is whether they keep Nene. Losing Martin isn't a huge deal--especially since they snagged Faried, and they still have Gallinari. Losing Chandler to China sucks for them, but if the keep Afflalo and get some shooting from Jordan Hamilton, then losing JR Smith (if they do) won't set them back too far. They're a deep team that finished last season pretty strong.

I just can't get excited about Portland being run by Felton and half of B. Roy in the backcourt. Probably the Spurs are better than I've got them if Manu and George Hill have good years. It'll be interesting to see what they do if they amnesty Richard Jefferson or make a trade.

Houston's roster is a pile of wings and underperforming front-court players with Thabeet and Montiejunas playing at C.

New Orleans could fall into oblivion if David West leaves and Chris Paul gets traded.

Sort of the reverse of us, no?

My best guess is the Jazz win 20-29. Think about our defense...think about how little chemistry the players have with each other, as well as with the coaching staff...think about how young we are...Kanter and Burks missed out on the summer league...it just keeps going. The 2011-12 season will be like a dress-rehearsal for this team.

We will be under .500 just looking at defense. Other than Favors, I'm not sure I like where this team is headed defensively...
