How to get out of a ticket?

I politely ask the clerk at the police counter if there is any bribe I can pay like "traffic school". It works every time--better than Mexico.

You can also request the speed gun calibration. Last I heard it was required weekly. You know those lazy *** cops don't do it every week. If you're hit by the slight chance that it was calibrated then I bet you could find an error in the recording. A lot of lab stuff isn't done correctly.

My rates are excellent. I've never had a moving violation on my record. That's what plea bargaining is all about. That being said I'd hate to travel with you. I can't imagine following the speed limit thru Kansas when you're trying to drive all 400+ miles of it in a day. I'm more than glad to risk a speeding ticket to get there a couple hours earlier.

400 miles at the kansas speed limit (70) will take 5.7 hours

@ 85 will take 4.7

@100 will take 4 hours

So if you average 100 mph over 400 miles it will save you 1.7 hours. Are you telling us you AVERAGE 100 miles per hour over a 400 mile trip? If not then your "couple hours" is a misnomer, and probably closer to 45 minutes to maybe an hour.

And that is risking a 15 mile an hour over the limit ticket. That ain't cheap. In Kansas it can be up to $496 depending on extenuating circumstances, but 15 is typically the threshold for the major jump in fines. Minimum fine for speeding at all in Kansas is $100. And if you don't live there have fun going back to "plea bargain" it down a little. That will take more than the hour you save right there.

So if that extra hour is worth (up to) $500 bucks to you I say go for it!

I was also factoring in the nearly 200 miles I have to drive thru Colorado to get to Kansas, but either way an average of going 10 MPH over the speed limit comes to saving an hour. I had no idea, just going off the top of my head. FWIW, it feels like you're saving 5 hours when all is said and done.

I wouldn't bother pleaing a ticket in Kansas or any other state. In Colorado, out of state tickets are not transferable to one's record. That's where half my tickets have been made. And I still would have done it again. For all the times I've made the damn drive the time saved has been worth the $300-400 I've given the state. I figure I've made the drive (in both directions) about 30 times in my life since I moved out here when I was 16. I've got 4 speeding tickets in that time. So if I would have saved myself 26 hours (the 4 times I got stopped I obviously saved myself no time) that comes around to $15 an hour or so. Not cheap, but worth it.

LOL as opposed to driving with you wondering if I'd make it there alive?? LOL Again, you're purposely running red lights so you don't have to wait an extra 120 seconds, changing lanes with no prior warning (dare I say cutting people off?), speeding and lord know what else. Just because you have no moving violations simply because you've plea bargained your way out of them does not mean you're a safe driver.

A red left turn arrow is hardly the same as a red light. There was no danger involved, and the oncoming traffic wasn't even moving as it was still stopped from the red light. I got the lane violation for not using the signal going onto another street, even though there were two lanes where one could only turn right and one could only turn left. At that point, the turn signal is not even a safety issue. It was just a cop who felt like Aurora needed an extra $100 bucks. And who (other than you and maybe my 91 year old grandma) hasn't sped on an interstate?

I gotta admit, this I've never been flamed for my driving skills based on just mentioning tickets. It is a first.
