How valuable is our 1st round draft pick?

I'd take Davis, by a hair.... but I am up to my eyebrow in these imponderables.

As for trading our pick.. I'd take Chris Paul and Pops.

Paul George and Kevin Love

This. Jordan would score 50 points a game if he played today, and Malone may very well foul out.

Jordan, today, with no hand checking? wowza. You think LeBron is good? Ha. Jordan would make LeBron look pedestrian.

Ya'll be trippin

I am not sure what I would ask for in a trade. Draft picks are typically overvalued to begin with. Add to that the opportunity to get a franchise superstar and you can see why this pick is VERY valuable if it winds up in the right place.
A franchise superstar on a rookie contract for several years. You don't trade that kind of value.

Parker, no question. Better body, and it is a wing's league right now. The rules benefit wings.

The game is still largely dictated by the play of bigs. That Lebron is an other-worldly talent is the exception that proves the rule (as evidenced by the Eastern and Western Conference finalists and the only teams that gave the Heat any real problems). You can't build an entire defense around a perimeter player, but you can build an entire offense around a big. Also, the rules favor PERIMETER players (not just wings) because bigs always have had an immense advantage and the rules are there to level the playing field as much as anything else.

Of course, where this gets really interesting is if Parker plays as a 4 (or in other words, can guard NBA 4s in the post). That would be the thing that separates him from Wiggins, IMO. There still isn't much of an answer for a dominant perimeter 4.

Not saying you can.
In fact, I probably take Parker #1 and just take the risk that Wiggins reaches his potential and becomes a top 10 player of all time... and be happy with Parker .. the almost sure-thing perennial all-star.

I haven't heard of a lot of people that have anything bad to say about how Hakeem worked out for the Rockets.

I don't know a lot of Rockets fans that are bummed they drafted Hakeem ahead of Jordan.

But thats because Hakeem became a top-ten player himself, IMO. If he isn't the GCOAT (I think he is) he most-certainly is number 2.

I personally feel Hakeem at his best is the GCOAT. But he wun't no Jordan (nobody was).

There is the romantic aspect of winning a championship with a player like Parker (and his Mormonist connection) that would be pretty cool. I'd love to see the build-up going into a Finals series between Lebron/friends and a core of good role players + Elder Jabari. It'd be super cool IMO (and this coming from a non-Mormon).
