Huge Season Ahead--But Give it Time

This should be the most telling season in a long time imo.

Can Corbin be the head coach for this team, long-term?
Are the assistants God awful? Good? What do we have there?
Was Hayward's finish to his rookie year a premonition or fluke?
Has Jefferson decided to truly get conditioned and maximize his abilities?
Can Millsap play the 3?
Has Favors developed like most on this board hope?
Was Kanter seemingly worthy of the #3 pick?

I'm not confident about Corbin or the rest of the staff. At all. But I'm confident in Hayward as long as most of his minutes are at the 2. I'm stoked about Jefferson supposedly working out in CA for two months. I never won't be confident in Millsap and his ability to redefine his game. And I have to be hopeful for Kanter and Favors. They're way too young and, imo, talented not to be.

But give it time. I know we're all talking about trades and we still need to upgrade the 3 (please no AK) and the 1 and that's fine. But let's not jump the gun prematurely. I think it's prudent to see what the Jazz have in these guys before any trades are made. That is, unless something overwhelming comes across our table like Brandon Knight and filler for Okur.

Just sayin'.

I agree with giving this roster some time to develop. But Corbin doesn't have that luxury. I'll give him 30 games next season. If he's still inept at adjusting during the game, and we just look like garbage, hopefully he gets canned.

You've set yourself up for some serious frustration. There might not be much of a training camp next season, and the team may look lost for stretches. You'll just have to get over it, cuz they're gonna give Corbin more rope than that. Book it.

Corbin actually finished last season pretty well, given our health. He seems more aware of mismatch disparities than Sloan and was willing to adjust his lineup accordingly. Corbin is VERY unlikely to get fired next season, IMO. It's tough in the West, so a .500 season with all this youth would be fine with me.

The Jazz will have two lottery picks again next year, unless Golden State is either really, really bad or lucky. If the Jazz are showing improvement and the young guys are developing as the season progresses, I can accept one more year of them missing the playoffs. If the young guys are anchored to the bench while Raja Bell and other veterans get the minutes, I'll be less patient.

Last night on nba tv steve smith, who apparantly is very close with corbin, mentioned ty is VERY high on favors and that he thinks he will be great next year. Going by this, i this it apears that we will be seeing alot of development of the young guys next year. I am ok with another bad season if the effort is strong. Two more lotto picks and we will have a nice mix of vets a supremly talented youngsters.

I really want to know if Millsap's shed about 5-10 pounds to get quicker to play the 3 and also to keep him fresher for the long grind of a season which always seems to take its toll on him.

Also, I am stoked because we have an insane amount of assets none of whom have an albatross of a contract.

Protected GS Pick
Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward, and Evans are all insanely young and on rookie contracts.
Millsap, for what he produces, is a bargain.
Jefferson, though he makes a solid buck, is a 20/10 type player who's long and could be hitting the peak of his career. These are tough to come by.
Okur makes a solid dollar but is expiring.
Miles could have a one year option picked up.
Harris is overpaid but at least doesn't completely suck and isn't a ridiculous contract, especially with just two years left.
Bell sucks and I wish he'd retire.

Lots of assets to keep or trade. Now don't re-sign AK to **** it up. We have a nice lunch pail attitude I think we could embody and our books are getting healthier, especially with a new CBA upcoming.

Apparently you missed Mark Jackson guaranteeing GS makes the playoffs. Now don't you feel foolish?

That might be the length of the season.

Damn it.

I'm sure Jackson will get the Warriors behind him with his coaching tactics such as "hand down, man down" and "Mama, there goes that man!".

I agree we are very young but am I the only one that thinks we can actually make the playoffs. A lot of the losses at the end of the year were down to the last 2 mins where we couldn't get over the hump with the new team. If Corbin and the Jazz can make that next step, I see no reason why we can't make the playoffs. I'm going out on a limb and say the Jazz will be a 7 or 8 seed

This is the most rational logic and I agree. Although I'd be a lot more offensive than 'less patient'.

I think it's just the opposite. Greg and KOC know they've handed him a young roster. The team started to free fall even under Sloan. It was clear the last couple of weeks that Corbin had a mandate to play the rookies more. I think Ty gets a pass next season. Unless he completely screws up and loses control of the players, his job is safe.

We will have plenty of time to be patient with the looming lockout. I really hope it is resolved quickly because I am excited to see this young team progress. I know it won't happen, but summer league would have been amazing this year. NBASL champs 2011!

Favors-Kanter-Evans-Hayward-Burks. Delicious.
