What's new

I can't believe how young the team is

Hayward is a man of simple taste. Probably already has more money than he could ever spend.

He's the OG. He built this team. I have to think he wants to see it through to its end.

Count me in the 'optimistic that Hayward meets us halfway on a deal' camp.

I must spread the rep
I hope you are right. I think gordon goes after as much money as possible and does not really care if he gets that money from utah or somewhere else and wont care if it hinders signing our other guys.
I hope im wrong though.

Not that I would begrudge a guy for doing that. And I know we only have one piece of evidence and it points your direction. But coming off a terrible overall season and then going to try and prove what you are worth in the league is one thing. But coming off a playoff season and potentially a series win is different. Before we could pay him and it wouldn't set us back at all. He's never been in a 'him or me' situation. If the Jazz say 'hey we aren't going to to over the salary cap to pay you guys.' that's one thing. But "Gordon, we are going to be at or above the luxury tax, but the only way to keep Favors (the player you've been with since your rookie year and together you guys have taken this team through everything and it's finally starting to pay off.) is for you to take a little less than the $30+(!!!) million you could potentially get.'

He thought he was worth $16 million a year when we had all the salary space in the world. And he was right. I don't think that necessarily means that he will insist on double that if it means that his friends and teammates are shipped out of town.
