I hate Locke

Locke could be a good guy to talk about basketball if he weren't working for the jazz. Maybe not
 
Nobody works harder than Locke. I really appreciate the effort he puts in. His play by play is bad. Can't help but think he'd do better as a color analyst. I actually like Harp and Boller. They're nerds, but they're our nerds .

Yea, their goofing around annoys a few people, but I find it entertaining and refreshing....afterall, its basketball not life or death. That being said, Bolerjack would be well served if he knew more about basketball.

Fast forward to opening night......
Boler: Durant drives to the lane, and is grabbed from behind by Enes. And the official throws a flag.
Harpring: yea, the ref blew the whistle on that foul by Kanter.
Boler: I think they are going to give the Thunder 15 yards for a horse collar....
Harping: No, its just a two shot foul. It was a good foul by Enes after durrant got past Hayward.
Boler: Hayward needs to get up on his man at the three point line of scrimage, maybe bump him off his route so his timing is off.
 
Locke tries hard and works hard, I admire that. We're very lucky to have someone like him to keep us in the loop and just talk about the team.

His interviews are cringe-worthy. Every time he says some stupid tidbit that he thinks is ground breaking and just sits there waiting for a response makes my skin crawl, but at the same time its endearing.
 
All this dislike amuses me. Could they be better? Of course but it does not diminish from my enjoyment of the game.
 
I dont think CAKAR really knows about Locke, so that he may have been entitled to have an opinion on him.
He is just trolling.

I appreciate David Locke. Yes, he's irritating. Yes, his particular journalistic style of updating his listeners over the minutia of his family life results in a "Stop wasting my time and tell me about basketball" reaction. (Seriously dude, don't talk about your summer road trip, no one cares. And no one cares what question your six year old daughter has for Gordon Hayward.) Yes, his play-by-play has room for improvement.

But as others have said in this thread, the dude works HARD. A video podcast done every morning, where he answers fan questions? Incredibly active twitter feed? Huge numbers and statistical analysis? Getting national writers on podcasts to share their opinion about the Jazz? (Getting Chad Ford during the draft for example was awesome.)

We are LUCKY to have a guy that cares about the Jazz as much as he does and works his tail off to provide us with perspective. We can disagree with his perspective all we want, but he's offering it up regularly, and at the end of the day that's what you want out of a news personality.

Wouldn't trade the guy for any other 'local' news personality in the business.
