i don't want to be super wet blanket man but this story is even more people magazine-ish and frustrating to me than it was initially.

here's video of his staged reunion with his mother. first, he's been groomed, but he's wearing the same camo coat that he was in the first video. i'm guessing this was forced on him by his handlers so the audience would better recognize him, but even if it wasn't, the idea of him being forced to wait to see his mother while two networks get their cameras ready for the money shot is repulsive imo. all for our supposed benefit. this is profiting off of sentimentality and i hate it, because it distracts us from our failures as a society to let someone become homeless in the first place. we feel soooo good that in a small way, we helped this guy back on his feet when we may have helped push him down in the first place

Just remember that at one point it was simply a local newscaster talking to a homeless guy and putting the video on Youtube...
