I Was At Last Night's Knicks/Jazz Game

Hey, I'm a New York sports fan. We expect championships EVERY season. Ever hear of the Yankees? They have 27 of those things called championships. As New Yorkers we feel it is our birthright to win every year. We went in to a Super Bowl against an 18-0 undefeated New England Patriots team expecting to beat them. And we did! We started this 2015 NBA season expecting to compete for that gold trophy and it is now February we are nine games under .500 but we still expect our men to go out there and win!

I have nothing against the Utah Jazz. I actually root for them out west. I saw Charles Barkly last night praise the hell out of them. Young team on the way up. He's right. All I am saying is you should not crow over a seven game winning streak when other teams have pulled off 24 games this season. You set the bar low. No sports fan should ever do that. We want to make the playoffs and win it all. We believe we should do that and that is why we fired our coach Monday.
This guy who has figured out a way to brag about the knicks claims that we're the ones setting the bar low. Wow.

Also, side note... Sad that in today's NBA, filling a 20,000 seat arena, even in a metro with 20 MILLION people, is an accomplishment now apparently.
Uhh, when you have a record of 5-36 and every seat is filled, yeah, that is something.

I watch a ton of NBA and I see some very good teams playing to three quarter-filled arenas. When you have a team like the Knicks who have really been bad -- historically bad, last year we posted our worst record in our seventy year history! -- and we still fill the arena, that is a good thing for the league. Yeah, we have 20 million people around here, but do you think all are into losing basketball? George Steinbrenner got it right when he said he is not competing against the NY Mets for ticket buyers. He said he is competing against Broadway theater, movies, restaurants, museums, concerts, the opera...any form of entertainment. For the Knicks to consistently pack that 20,000 seat arena is a remarkable thing. Knicks may be poor now and again but the experience of a game at the Garden is always worth the ticket price. I've seen some dog games there from the Knicks (I saw us shoot just 25% against the friggin' Kings of all teams), but I have always had a great time there and as soon as I leave I want to go back for another game.

The Knick/Jazz OT game this year was a very good game I am sure on TV. It was even better there.

No doubt. The comment was less directed at the knicks and more directed at the evolution of the NBA. The jazz have had some pretty bad teams the past few years but we are nearly always top 10 in attendance (as are the knicks).

The comment was more about the teams like the sixers, pistons, hawks, etc who cant get people to the games despite being in large markets.

Is there a video of Chuck last night talking about the Jazz? Would love to hear what he had to say.

Find the TNT post-game show from last night if it is out there.
I'll try to paraphrase. After the Jazz/Mavs highlights Barkley called the Jazz the best young team in the league. Said they are on their way to being a contender soon. Shaq, Kenny, and Ernie all nodded in agreement with Charles.

I'll take a look, thanks.

Yeah, those are the teams I was thinking of when I was talking about not filled arenas. Throw in post-LeBron Miami, too.

That was last year....and nothing to be proud about. Burke was being guarded by that spaced out weed addict JR Smith. The jockey who rode American Pharoah could have popped that game winning three.

Ahh yeah that's right! As I sifted through your bs response... That's the night the Jazz killed your team.
