If Jazz draft Kanter, then hire Karl Malone

I don't see Jimmer getting to the lane very effectively in the NBA. IMO, he'll mostly be a spot up shooter and come off some screens. I'd much rather have the guy that can take it all the way to the rack and dunk/get fouled consistently.

Rose averaged 25 points and 7.7 assists this year...Jimmer doesn't have an offensive game to get him anywhere near that in the NBA. Comparing him to Rose is laughable.

You completely missed the point. Read the post again.

Shaq averaged far more points than Memo. That's not to say that Memo was one dimensional and Shaq wasn't.

Even if Malone weren't hired as a big man coach, ala Kareem for Bynum, he would still be great as a strength coach. Just look how Dwight Howard's physique has evolved; it would be awesome if Favors could do the same.

Well I don't want a shooter off the bench in the lottery...

Who's the Dwight Howard and Lebron that we'll be missing at #12?

How old are you by the way? 10?

Your lack of understanding of the lottery really shows with comments like these.

Name 5 players taken in the last 20 years at #12 who have been stars. Do it, I dare you.

Shaq could also play some D.

Like I said, I don't think see Jimmer being able to take NBA players off the dribble consistently. IMO, in the NBA he will be one dimensional, a shooter.

Much fewer dimensions than Rose who can drive, set up teammates, and has developed a bit more a mid-range game too. He can also D up pretty well. Many more dimensions than Jimmer.

Would you rather have one of the many bust that comprise most of the lottery?

Jimmer is just as much a bust threat as anyone else.

swing and a miss.

Read the post again. Stop playing dumb too.

Still waiting for your list of 5 stars taken at #12.

Rose was considered one of the worst defending (starting at least) PG's in the NBA before Thibodeau took over as HC.

Yes I'm 10. Clown.

What players taken at 12 in the last 20 years have been drafted with the assumption they'll be nothing but bench players?

Would any team spend a #12 pick on someone they don't believe can be a capable starter? If you believe that Jimmer can be that then that's where I think the disconnect is. You want to go into a pick at 12 thinking "let's select a bench player!"? I don't think so, I would hope not. So the only thing I can guess is that you believe Jimmer can a capable starter in the NBA.

I don't see Jimmer's ceiling as any higher than a bench player. THAT'S why I don't want him at 12. It has nothing to do with missing out on a sure LeBron/Dwight at 12. It's about missing out on a player with the POTENTIAL to be a solid starter in the league. I don't see that in Jimmer.

Who said stars? I said CAPABLE STARTERS.

Here's some guys that were available at 12 without being major reaches (12-20) from 2000-06:
2000
16 Hedo Turkoglu
18 Quentin Richardson

2001
12 Vlad Radmonovic
13 Richard Jefferson
14 Troy Murphy

2003
18 David West

2004
15 Al Jefferson
17 Josh Smith
20 Jameer Nelson

2005
17 Danny Granger

2006
14 Ronnie Brewer

I think thats where Jimmer will end up and I think the jazz are trading down from that 12 pick.

This draft is seen as being 3 players deep, and then EXTREMELY weak after that. What team in it's right mind is going to trade up to the #12 spot so Utah can drop back and pick up Jimmer in the 16-20 range?

Personally, I'm worried that Utah won't draft Jimmer, thus leading to years of "Trade For Jimmer" threads as well as all of the Jimmer Fan-Boys spouting off every time the guy scores more than 10 points for some another team.
