What's new

If Lyles became a stud, would you ship out Gobert or Favors?

I don't care how well he plays next year. Plenty of minutes for him off the bench in a 3 big rotation. If he becomes so entitled that he just has to start, then he's the one I ship out. Now, if his defense were to get a LOT better, then it changes things, but as of now, I don't don't move either Favors or Rudy.

It's not an entitled or starting thing just a money and roster balancing thing imo. Ideally we keep all three but Favs will get a raise and Gobert only has one more cheap year. It may be smart to allocate resources to another position if Trey is ready for a bigger role.

Again we have time and no real reason to do it now.

I'm very concerned with Favs' injuries. He's proving as durable as Boozer. Also concerned with Gobert's lack of improvement. And he can't finish games due to his FT shooting.

Not prepared to say right now who would be the one to ship out. Favs can guard most 5's and is a good rim protector. He and Hayward are the only 2-way players we have right now. Do you lose less overall by moving him to the 5 and keeping his offense and trading a player who is a great rim protector but little else.

Also think money factors in to this. Jazz, IINM, could negotiate a new contract with Derrick this summer. Will he give them another favorable deal in exchange for the certainty of a contract?

Let's just say that Lyles becomes a beast and is like a 20 PPG guy with 38% from three or something.

Out defense takes a hit, but our floor spacing would be amazing.

Would you keep Favors or Gobert?

Some of Favors' defensive prowess is negated by his lack of size at the 5 and since Lyles is a bad post defender it would be a temerity to have both in the starting line-up. So, if it ever comes to shipping Gobert or Favors out of town on account of the development of Lyles, I'd say Favors goodbye in the blink of an eye.
