If Mo Williams never left Utah in the first place...

If Mo Williams never left Utah after his rookie year, could he have turned out to be an elite point guard? Recent articles about Deron Williams and Mo, as well as the legacy of John Stockton, have shown than Jerry Sloan is one of the best coaches for point guards, runs the best offense for them, and can get more out of players than other coaches in general. If Mo stayed under Jerry's coaching for his entiire career or at least more than a good rookie season, I think Mo would easily be a Top 8 PG in this league. His offense and playing alongside LeBron led him to be an All Star, but if he stayed in Utah he would have learned to be a better distributor and balance that with his innate shooting and one-on-one play. I am glad he is back in Utah, but I only imagine how good he and the Jazz would be if he stayed in Utah more than one season before going to the Bucks and learning bad habits and more selfish play.

Interesting question. I've wondered the same. Seeing what Jerry's coaching did for Dwill makes me wonder if you might be right. And Deron obviously has seen the difference now.

Deron was a better player in the NBA in his first year than Mo while also being younger. There's a reason he was the #3 pick and Mo Williams was a 2nd rounder that turned out to be a nice story.
