Name the last Duke player who was a bonafide superstar in the league. Had Kobe gone there, as he said he would have, then you might have an argument, but while Duke teams do great in the tourney, and they do get players drafted, they (former Duke players) are known to be lukewarm in the league. I don't think this is a knock on Duke at all, I think it's just the players they recruit. They try and recruit more team-oriented players that aren't the super athletic kids with huge egos that want to start right away and will leave after one year.
Having said all that, I would still give one of my reproductive organs to get Irving. Looks like he could be special.
I think you could say that most schools don't have a bonafide superstar....they're kind of rare. But hell, based on your logic we should try to get more Marquette players because Dwyane Wade is a superstar. Or perhaps more players from Wake Forest because of Chris Paul and Tim Duncan....right? Players are players no matter where they go to school. If all these guys went to Duke they would still be great players. If they all went to the New Jersey Institute of Technology they would still be great players, just not as polished. Oh, and the last superstar from Duke would most likely be Grant Hill. Gerald Henderson has been rapidly improving with playing time though and is athletic enough and a good enough defender that if he ever gets a jump shot that he could be a little below superstar level.
Basically what I'm saying is that I don't care where the kid went to school, if he can ball he can ball.
