Pulls up and shoots a 12 year old seconds after arriving. Even though the 911 call said he wasn't really worried and that it was probably a fake gun but was just being cautious. Arrest his sister instead of helping out the 12 year old they just shot for no reason. Do not help him for 4 minutes while he is lying on the ground dying beside them. Is it possible that in the future there will be less people who want to become cops due to all the hate? If so, could that mean a shortage in police? And if there is a shortage could that make them less likely to be able to show up in a timely manner?

I don't know. Its a stable job you can get with no education. That alone will draw a decent amount of people into the profession. Just not sure they are bringing the right people in. There should be much harder criteria imo. When I was younger and was down and out in my career the first thing I looked at was being a cop. Its remarkably easy to become one and thats not good.

I think that you tend to respond faster to the people who you know are paying for your salary, aka, the wealthy (and usually whiter) part of town. That effect shows up in dozens of small decisions up and down the line.

Just down the street from my house actually. Sounds like the cop had every right to shoot this doofus who was more than likely just looking for homes where someone wasn't home and not trying to make a few extra bucks. I'm kind of annoyed he didn't come to my house though, did he think I was poor?

If they are not worth enforcing then the legislatures should remove them as laws. Also not delivering court summons is a very slippery slope imo.

We all know they aren't going to just start dropping laws because they are ridiculous. So lets move past that idea. They are doing it to be dicks, but as long as it stays at ignoring dumb stuff and doesn't spread to not responding to minorities calls and stuff like that I'm not too bothered by it.

I'm not. I'm in favor of getting rid of stupid laws.

I think selective enforcement of laws is a major problem.

I believe that in a perfect world every law violation would absolutely warrant an arrest because to violate the law would mean that you are causing direct harm to specific people, therefore the police would be duty bound to hold you accountable.
